It's telling you that the problem is beyond the range of the O2 sensor control. Either your car is too lean or too rich for the DME to compensate. The O2 sensor is always reading lean or rich as a result. Check for air leaks, that's usually the culprit, if it's a lean condition. Excessive fuel pressure, is usually responsible if it's a rich condition. Best bet is simply to make sure the mounting posts on the rear of the roof are tight, where they mount to the body and to the roof. You can also back off the tension on the rear mounts slightly, this will sometimes give enough flex back there to allow movement without noise. It's a Blue Point MT586AK Multimate. Unit is about 2 years old, a little less perhaps. Condition is near perfect, some grease stains on the box. Comes with the original leads and plug in temperature sensor. Not sure what current list price is, it cost me about $440. I'll let it go for $300. First in, first served. A mile into the drive home it started surging and thus bucking. Temp was about 15F and thus the engine was still relatively cold. The bucking was serious enough to be quite noticeable but the car was still driveable. A half mile later when I got home I let the car run a bit and it could not hold an idle - oscillated between 500 and 1.2K. This morning no problems on the drive in. I'm thinking battery or alternator as the lights were also dimming. Alternator was replaced a year or so ago and the battery is at least 3.7 years old (period I have had the car). So I intend to start with checking the battery. Any other ideas? Thanks Dave ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Feb 2000 15:02:42 PST From: "Trevor Turner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [uuc] Removing hex screws A trick I used on my E23 was to find a bolt with the right sized head, 14mm you say, bend it at about 80deg and then use a steel rod as the lever. Be careful because you aren't pulling at the right angle, but I was able to do mine a few weeks ago. By the way, the reason you don't bend the bolt to the full 90deg is because it will probably break. Ask me how I know! Good luck Regards from DownUnder Trevor Turner ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 15:00:58 -0800 (PST) From: "Fred M." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [uuc] <WOB> Better Living - Coke thread For those interested, years ago I tried an experiment that my high school teacher described regarding the high carbonic acid contentent of Coke and a 10 penny nail. Yup, drop a nail in a bottle of Coke and it will dissolve it in a couple of days. OBMWC - I replaced my waterpump about 4 months ago with a new metal impeller job. Now, it seems to be leaking, but will have to disassemble it to determine if it is around the gasket or bearing. Jeesh. Fred M. So, I am selling the one I have in my car. It is stock sport package, it include shocks/struts, spring and sway bar. I also have a set of Eibach pro kit springs that can go with this sport package. It fits 325 or 328 sedan and coupe. For those who doesn't want to upgrade to the stiff suspension, this is the one to get. I really like it, but track is really addictive that I am going to a stiffer suspension now. $300 or best offer takes tham all. Buyer pays COD and shipping from MI. The BIG part is the personal property tax. If you itemize your deductions when you do your taxes, you can *sometimes* deduct the tax portion as a State tax payment. There are several ways to find out which portion is the deductible tax. On commercial vehicles the reg fee is higher. And Kathy was right, every state gets its revenue from somewhere. In California, they tax you pretty much EVERYWHERE! And I'm not sure I'd call that racket "nice", but this is the price we pay for living here, where we can drive our Bimmers year round (OBMWC) without worrying about the salt destroying them in the winter.
