The thing I found extremely funny and I guess you had to be there was the fact that my competitors were in a league of their own. Big hairy-ass, gold capped dude came in 1st, btw. The sucker punch from a girl was also rather humiliating. The funny thing is that I was a pretty fast dude. In high school, during senior year, I was the fastest dude in my gym class...and that was compared to the stupid kids, too. We had various 50m, 100m dashes and I would consistently beat the taller, leggy, leaner kids. Go figure! I was also the strongest Asian in Brooklyn Tech! YEAH BABY!!! By freshman year, I was benching 175 pounds and peaked at 225 pounds by junior year (I didn't even try to weight lift since the general saying was that those who weight lifted stunted their growth...I was 5'7" at the time...and still am...DOH! ...goddamn Asian genes!). I also had the distinct title as being the undefeated arm wrestler amongst the Asian crowd. These big Asian dudes would come up to me at lunch time and say, "Hey...I heard you're the one to beat." They'd challenge me right there and then while I was eating my lunch and time after time, I would send them away, the loser! A-ha...it paid to have fish tanks!!!! =) You see, when I was in jhs and had a fishtank that was four feet high, my dad would have to help me change the water struggling to hoise the 2.5 gallon bucket over the lip of the tank. Within a year or two, I was doing the water changes by myself with one arm. I literally had pop-eye arms! ...but I digress... So the title of this story? - - Junior prom...... Aaaahhh....junior year. I had already liked quite a few girls, but had always come up dry. If you remember my subway story and my description of myself, you probably know why =) But it was already junior year and I dressed like a human, ditched the coke-bottle glasses for contacts, styled my hair, and was the strongest mo-fo in the school. I was determined to not be the typical guy. I used to watch soap operas with the sister (Days of Our Lives). I wanted to be the "sensitive" man. Chivalry was not dead! I listened, sided with the girls and spoke of equal rights. No dice! So much of junior year was a disaster. I had sunk to an all time low of liking three girls and having none of the feelings returned. I had my eye on this one girl from the beginning of the year, but she--as all of the others--showed no signs of attraction. I moved on to the next girl, but when I asked her for her phone number, the response was, "I don't have a phone." Then I met this other girl who didn't even hear of me. We met at Wollman rink on Thanksgiving break. We skated together and when the Zamboni (sp?) came out to resurface the ice and we got off the ice, she still held my hand! This was looking good!!! But it would all end by New Years when she heard all these rumors and decided not to go out with me. You see, I wasn't the most popular of kids. I knew a lot of stuff. I would oftentimes explain things to the class (e.g. the process of photosynthesis) when the teacher didn't quite understand it. The chemistry teacher would use my test answers to validate his answers before grading the rest of the class. People thought that I was a book worm...a know-it-all, but in reality, I hardly studied. You see, all those times that I watched "Nature", "3-2-1 Contact", "Newton's Apple", (basically, the PBS network) and just asking a lot of questions filled my brain with a lot of info. I knew what chlorofluorocarbons were before I even took Chemistry! I knew what the Coriollis Effect was before taking Physics. But I was persecuted for the knowledge. I was labeled as a bookworm, the geek, the know-it-all. People would call me up to ask me for help with homework, but would never call me up just to chat. Oh well. Anyway, after the ice skating girl fiasco (btw, 4 years later...I'm going out with her now....she's seen "the light" ...LOL), I decided to return to the original girl that I liked at the beginning of the year. She was cute, so innocent, so fun to be with. She laughed at my jokes and we spoke on the phone for countless hours. But I still never told her how I felt about her. Should I? Or will I risk ruining everything that I worked so hard to build up? Will I get that "Let's just be friends" speech? But what's this? Junior prom is coming up? .....the gears started winding. Yes...I would confess my love to her in person. Vis a vis (did I get that right or did I totally botch up the french phrase?). No longer would I hide behind a written letter. Oh no! I had a strong feeling that she liked me back! So one evening, I muster up enough courage and ask her to the dance. "Oh...I was planning on going stag. ...you know, know commitments...," was her answer. DOH! Things weren't looking good. Well, it was the night of junior prom. I was psyched! There goes my dream girl...dancing over there with a group of friends. I mosey on over and join in. It was an absolutely enchanting night. Dark blue sky....clear, crisp, cool air....perfect for cuddling if I'm successful. Yes...I'm going to profess my love. But that friggin DJ is hung up on playing nothing but fast songs. Gawd damn mutha-f*cka! Everyone is making requests for this dude to slow it down. 1 hour later, we're all tired from the fast crap and we sit down to get some drinks and stuff. Man, is this guy ever going to give it a rest? Well, finally he does (someone must have whacked him over the head) and he plays, "I want to get freaky with you" (not sure if that was the exact title of the song...but you get the idea, right?). So this rather fat, tall girl, Wendy (not the real name) screams (oh, btw, *everyone* knew that I had the hots for Ms. Cutie), "Chester and Samantha (that's not her real name...), get out on the dance floor and dance!" I get up, Samantha gets up, Wendy gets up, and ...what's this?..Dick (that's not his real name, but it's fitting) gets up???? Dick advances to Samantha and grabs her hand and takes her out onto the dance floor. I'm already standing up and so is Wendy....and we end up slo-dancing. YUK!!!!! You see, I couldn't stand Wendy. She was the gossip queen and I had a feeling that she always talked behind my back. But she started treating me nicely when she saw me in my biker shorts and tight T-shirt... She was, perhaps, the only girl that found muscles attractive...oh well. Anyway, all I remember was feeling way too gross. Rather than resting my arms around Samantha's slim waist, I was resting my arm on Wendy's shelf-o-fat. How-duh-f*ck did I end up here? What went wrong? After the song--which seemed to last an eternity--ended, I ran off the roof-top where the dance was taking place and sat, curled-up, on the floor next to the elevator....heartbroken. My buddy found me and I asked if we could just go home. The next day, I call Samantha up to see what happened. Any chance of salvation? I profess my love for her. She says that Dick also professed his fondness for her and that she was having a tough time deciding. She also confessed to having feelings for me during the beginning of the year, but when I went after another girl, she gave up. DOH! The many, many love triangles! She told me to give her time to decide. Well, Dick was persistent as hell. He didn't respect the "I need space" request. No, that was something that only stupid Chester did because he actually respected Samantha. Guess who she went out with? Yup...Dick. What a dick. So the summer rolls around and I'm working at a clearing house making a respectable $10/hr. Samantha and her group of friends and Dick all don't have jobs. They spent the entire summer going to Central Park to play volleyball. August 14th rolls around, Samantha's birthday, and to show that I still cared and that there were no hard feelings, I wanted to take her out for her birthday. She had to get Dick's approval...he was scared that I was out to steal her back. That was something, well...that only Dicks do, ya know? What a dufus. Anyway, I spent the entire summer in a fit of rage. In order to vent off the steam, I went biking after work each day. I would rack up ~20 miles a day in about an hour of riding. Man, I had frog legs. ...and that was when I met the girl from the tubing story. You see, the buddy who went home with me during the night of the junior prom...well, he liked this girl in Staten Island. I always heard of her, but never met her. So one weekend, my friend asks me, "Where do you want to ride to?" I say, "Hey...let's go to Staten Island...I want to meet the girl you've been going ga-ga over." We make the 30 mile trek to Staten Island, I meet her sister...and the rest is history. Every time I wanted to see Staten-Island-Girl, I had to bike ~60 miles round trip. What the 535 will have is a little bit more low-end "grunt" as it's max power is at 5600RPMs vs 6K on the 533i. It'll also have ABS. Other than that.. it's silly stuff. Like the 535i has the OBC2, and you can cycle it via the end of the turn stalk, umm.. and 85 won't have the better stereo or power seats tho. If the 533i is nicer..everything else being equal. Buy it. Vice Versa for the 535i BTW.. typical Michelin "Total Rotten eXcuse Tires" TRX Tires warnings apply. The Big-6 E28s are my all-time fave BMWs anyways.. (Which, by the way, is the same place Scott Adams worked and used as inspiration for Dilbert. You can walk in a straight line for a half mile indoors. Nothing but cubicles.) The speakers work pretty damn well at masking the ambient noise of conversations. If you don't know what to listen for it just sounds like the HVAC fans are running all the time. It's the same theory as why your car audio system needs several times more power than your home system. Hmm, maybe I need to adapt a car stereo for my office... Well, I am a college student and after a hard day of classes(Well not really, but thats what I tell my parents) I decided to go to the campus deli for dinner. Ok so I get my meatball sub and root beer and I pay for it. Next door in the adjoining room is the coffee house where everyone sits, hangs out, etc. I spot my friends sitting in the corner. As I am walking towards them, I lock eyes with a ~gorgeous~ female. This girl was hot, let me tell you. She had those kid of eyes that just mesmorize you and make you weak. Well I was drawn in by her powers and shes staring rght back at me into my eyes! So i'm thinking "hey this is money in the bank-I got a hot girl checkin me out" I was dressed nice wearing khakis, timberlands, my M3 polo shirt and my hair was combed nicely. I felt like a million bucks. As soon as I am directly in front of her(still caught in the gaze) my arm knocks a chair that was left out from the coffee bar. As my luck has it, this was the arm that was holding my root beer. Stupid me, I didnt put a lid on to conserve the plastic thinking i'll do something good for the environment. So I proceed to spill my beverage all over my shirt. DAMN. She had a smirk and immediately I knew something was wrong(girls dont usually smirk at me) I look down and there is some brown spots contrasting the Motorsport stripes on my nice white shirt. DOH! I look at her and just put my head down in shame. To make matters worse, she kept looking at me while I was eating (Am I that amusing????) The idiot kid who made my sub made an absolute mess of it. Grrrr you moron. So basically I look like a slob trying to eat this thing and I have soda stains all over me in the process. Thats it-just am embarassing story.
