I just wanted to say a big thanks to everybody that has helped me with all my questions over the last couple of weeks. First, I got my broken oil drain plug out without any problems. I just bought a 2 dollar reverse threaded bit, and since the plug is already hollow inside, the bit wedged itself right in there and I was able to back it out - no sweat. Thanks Neil for clearing up some of my valve adjusting confusion. And awhile back I asked about how to vent exhaust. After getting many responses, I looked at the dryer hose and it did look a tad flimsy. So I did some more hunting around. There's a company close to home (http://www.americanhose.com) that sold what they called "crush proof garage exhaust." I think the brand name is flexaust, but they weren't 100% sure what the brand name was. They had an oval adaptor that fits over both the pipes coming out of my muffler (supersprint - each pipe is about 3'' x 3.5''), so I put my order in for that and 11' of hose. I hooked it all up tonight and tried it out. The hose is very good quality, but the oval adaptor doesn't seal very well and some exhaust still leaks out. I may try the squirrel cage blower trick somebody mentioned and see what I can do to seal things up a little better. The whole setup cost about $75 (including tax) so I was a little disappointed it didn't work better, but I'll get it to work better somehow. Anyway, thanks again to everyone for their help. I don't know what I'd do without y'all. I'd probably have to take my car to a <gasp> professional and have everything done correctly the first time. Naaah. Catching up on old digests here. Anti-freeze will burn, and quite well. Especially on top of Wankel engines due to their high temperature. Early versions of the third gen twin-turbo Mazda RX7 had the endearing habit of leaking coolant onto the engine, where it would pool in a depression on the block. You park the car in your garage and a little while later, whoosh! Car goes up in flames. This caused a number of people to lose their houses in the ensuing fire. Their was later a recall on the entire production run of 93's (and some 94's I think) to fix it. Reminded me of that old Talking Heads song "Burning Down the House". This barbecue feature was what finally pushed me into an M3. There were many other problems and recalls with the cars. At the time, the M3's had a street price near $40K but leftover new '94 RX7's could be had in the low 20's, down from the same price as the M3. They were nice cars aside from the problems. Never regretted the decision to go with BMW though.
