No dissention here... I do like some of the new car accessories, such as radio controls in the steering wheel. Some people think they are dumb, but they allow the driver to keep both hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road. In car navigation systems are a good thought, but too many people are going to be watching the little "TV" when they should be paying attention to the road. It would make more sense for these displays to be "head's up" displays, where the driver can still focus on the road instead of the interior of the car. More thorough engine manangement is also a good thing, because it would (should) allow better reporting of errors, but is also harder to fix, so it's hard to say on that one... I love my E30. It has all the safety features it needs (if it's anything like the 5 series of the time.. ask Karl Zemlin..), it's as sporty as I need right now, relatively cheap to own (compared to a new car), reliable, easily modified, easily worked on, and very advanced for its time. It still amazes me that at 18, I have a car that cost about $23,000 new, built only 12.5 years ago. Not many cars I know of can make it to 200,000 miles, and I've seen examples of 80s Bimmers that have 300,000. The new ones will proabably make it that long, but time will tell.
