I'm looking for the front spoiler, lip-extension, for the E36 M3.

I'm also looking for the rear spoiler that came with the LTW M3. I'm looking
for the one that has the brake-light built into the lip extension....
Counting that piece, I believe it is a four-piece spoiler? Hopefully my
diagram makes SOME sense.

Subject: [uuc] E30 325ic: locks, keys, and plastic side strip questions

Hi Everyone,

<background>
I got an E30 1993 325ic (black and tan, 5 speed, only 35K miles at
the time) about a year ago. The deal was closed by my family in
Boulder, since the car was too good to pass up and I'm now living in
northern CA. I love my car...
</background>

Anyway, the questions:

- - The car came with 2 keys, one of which doesn't appear to do
anything at all with relation to the car. The second was a rather
temperamental, slowly bending copy. I had the BMW dealership recut a
key based on the copy that has worked better and has at least held
up, but it is rough in the driver's side door, fine in the trunk
lock, and will unlock but not lock the passenger side with too much
ease and an empty/insecure sort of sound. The reason I haven't had a
new master's cut is that my key code doesn't seem to be on file
anywhere, ie, when my VIN# is entered into the key-cutting computer,
it spits out a blank key! My local service guys "requisitioned the
manufacturing records from Germany," but the standard piece of paper
with my key and radio codes doesn't seem to exist in any file or
computer system. Any suggestions on a course of action? Is this
something BMW might or should fix since one is supposed to be able to
get keys made and the nonexistance of a code is not my fault?

- - For the sake of covered parking (my money-earning, new-S4-driving
SO usually gets the big assigned space), I fight daily for a tiny
guest spot (tiny meaning cement columns within a foot of each side of
my little car without much room to come in straight on). Awhile ago
I put a 6" scrape in the black plastic strip running parallel to the
ground along the driver's side door and it makes me ever so sad. Is
this something that sanding, some sort of rub-on finish, or a
permanent marker (!) can fix, or if I need to replace the plastic
piece, any ideas on how much this runs?

Well put. Also notice that the second order term is minimized when
taking stroke equal 2 divided by the sqrt of rod length. Something seen
in F1 motors. Yes that's also an extreme case, but the diferences allow
the harmonics throuout the length of the crank to be minimzed so they
can turn high revs. You can directly minimize the rod deviation,
altough you have to use the trick that X is a minimum when 1/X^2 is a
maximum. The rod deviation angle is defined as 1/2*acos(1-(sin^2 crank
angle*stroke/2 rod length)).

Now looking at the piston acceleration at the extreme cases (0 and 180
degrees) you see that the differnece is BDC and TDC accelerations are
minimized for the minimum rod deviation case.

Subject: [uuc] Car & Driver Killed in Crash - Details

The car belonged to Dr. Ron Finger (former 250 GTO owner) and was a super
hot rod MBZ that had previously been featured in Car and Driver about a year
ago.
Car and Driver wanted to break 200 mph and expected to hit 208 on the high
speed oval.
Don Schroeder was on his first hot lap and the staff/crew were waiting much
further down the track to clock him as he went by.
He never came by. The car flipped and exploded. Schroeder apparently was
not seriously hurt in the crash and did manage to get the door open but
didn't make it out on time.
It took several minutes for anyone to reach him. He died in the fire.
He was unmarried. No kids.
Very sad.

I have one of these mounts. I got it from ioport. I've used it at tracks
all over the midwest, and it does not come off. My 8mm videocam sits right
under the rear view mirror, close to the glass. It is definitely in the
field of vision, but I have not found any visibility troubles from its
location. As an added bonus, the mounting location lets you capture the
conversations between front seat occupants for posterity.

It makes great videos, with no vibration problems, and is one of the better
~$90 gadgets I've bought for the car.

Darrel, the emblem is attached with paddy adhesive. I always use fishing
line to remove the emblems safely. Start on the side and pull the string
back and forth in a slicing motion. Then remove the leftovers with an
adhesive remover like 3M. I then wax the area well before applying the new
emblem. There will still usually be an image leftover from the old emblem
so correct placement is not a problem.

Looks like the only problem now is visibility issues which is a personal
thing. :)

You can also take a plasma cutter and cut the whole damn edge of your trunk
lid off, since that adhesive is so hard to remove. Just weld on the new
piece, grind the weld bead off the seam, and paint with Krylon.

OK one last one.

How about a 4" hole saw? Afterwards you can take random shots at the
body. Pretty soon you'll end up with an E28 LTW, cool huh.

I have a window mounted camera mount from HMS motorsport. I have used it on
the track and it has not fallen off yet, it is also suprisingly stable, the
end result was not nearly as jerky as I thought it would be. But I digress
I am sure you can jar it lose if you try hard enough. I mount it so that
the camera rests on the top of the back seat so that not all of the weight
of the camera is on the suction cup. YMMV.

Not that anyone asked. . .
But I'm sorry, unless it does nothing to obscure vision I would think this
is a poor choice of locations. I'd opt for the bar that goes across the
rear headrest supports in a heartbeat. I'm probably going to start removing
my rear view mirror at autocrosses because I find even that obscures my
line of sight. I want to see where I need to be going. I couldn't deal with
anything blocking the window.

I certainly hope no one would allow such a device at a driving school.
