The first time I had that problem (on my '95 M3) was just after installing a K&N filter and B&B TriFlo cat-back exhaust, then fueling up with 105 octane. The pump automatically cut off at $50 (to keep the bozos with their Winnebagos from accidentally putting $300 worth of racing fuel in their tanks) so I had to swipe my card a second time to fill the tank the rest of the way. Then, when I put the key back in the ignition and switched the car on, the fuel gauge read empty. Thinking the double-fueling (or the shock of slurping 105 octane for the first time in its life) might have freaked out the fuel sensor, I went back to the shop where I just had the work done. We yanked up the rear seat, checked the resistance of the sensors (both OK), disconnected and reconnected the sensor wires, and otherwise fiddle-farted around. No worko - each time we reinserted the key and switched on the car, the gauge still read empty. So we buttoned everything back up (I was going to take it to the dealer, as it was still under warranty) and - voila'! - the gauge worked! One of them "FM" things (fuggin' magic). The second time the gauge read empty was again right after I fueled up (normal 92 octane this time). That time I took it to the dealer. They said BOTH sensors were shot and replaced them (on my bill this time, as the car was off warranty by then). No problems since. However, having those sensors replaced was NOT cheap! Mayhaps others on this here Digest have better experiences or advice to share -- good luck! Ed C. Presumably the 'logic' of this will be explained as "Well, it is an ACA club meeting" .So ,,,doesnt one ALSO have to wonder when the CCA National Board will call it's local meeting to discuss the same topic with it's members ?. Being a long-time member of BOTH clubs I have concerns at the apparent 'skew' in the dissemination of data here . The ACA club has done an outstanding and equitable job providing info to its members ...the other side ...? we're still waiting . I got the ticket about 3-4 weeks ago in San Diego doing 92 in a 65 and only got written up for doing 80 in a 65. I chose the traffic school option at the advice of many and it turned out well. I went to 'school' online at a site called 'trafficjamn.com' it costs $17.95 and is a complete joke. It's probably just a matter of time before the courts catch on. You can log in and out at will and take as long as you like to 'study'the material you will be tested on . Just for the hell of it I clicked straight through the chaff to the actual test. I timed myself on the 25 questions and had them answered in just over 4 minutes. I then turned it in for 'grading' and whatta ya know, I passed! To think I had actually considered spending 8 hours in a room trying to stay awake at a regular traffic school. So to sum it up: Fine for speeding $77.00 Court imposed traffic school fee $24.00 Traffic school 'tuition' $17.95 Postage stamp $00.32 My time aprox. 10-15 minutes Thanks again to all those who e-mailed with advice/suggestions. Was gonna have my shop put back on the Panthers but my mechanic said I don't have much meat left on the front pads. Oh yeah, my front rotors are just about gone too. Maybe one more school left. My rear Panthers were even worse. Any miles with those and my rear rotors would get hacked up. I have about 20K miles on all 4 sets of pads and the front rotors (vented) have 20K on them too. I find it odd to see that my rears were so low. I kept the MetalMasters on the rear until I get new Panthers. In fact, I ordered Panthers AND the Street whatever they call them from CarboTech and I'll be swapping pads this year for driving events. I like these pads, the Panthers dust like hell though so I'll be using them just for track events. I know I am driving faster at the track and more confident in my brakes. Is that why they are getting used up so fast? But the fact that the rear are shot has me concerned. Is there somekind of brake bias test the dealer can do? Also. . . I put back my Michelin HXs 225/50*16s. Two of the tires are at the wear indicators and the other two are almost there. I am intending to replace the two worn ones this weekend. I might do all four since I'll get just one more school out of the ones that are almost gone. But. . . Maybe I'm not used to the car without the Blizzacks. I feel the rear is very twitchy. Did I just forget what an E30 rear feels like with Z rated tires?
