Speaking of which, anyone ever consider writing a letter to the SEB
stating a case for the E30 M3 to be moved out of A-stock? It seems out
of place now with the Porsche 944S2, 968, the E36 M3, and the MR2
Turbos dominating that class.

Don't know what class it sould be moved to but let's see - 192HP, ~2700
lbs. Hmm... smells like Type R territory, so howsa bout G-stock?
Nah... they'll complain up a storm because that car is a ringer in that
class. How's about B-stock, yeah let's mix it up with the Miatae boyz
n girls. ;-) Seriously anyone think that may be a good idea and
hopefully be re-classed for next year?

I'm not changing my springs back to stock so I'm staying in CSP. BTW I
found out the other day I won CSPT (street tire) for the Detroit
region. Woo hoo! My only real competition was a Neon who skipped a
few events, thank God for that cuz he was faster. :-)

Guys,
Apparently the last time I posted this, no one paid
any attention ;)

Here's a list of the US Spec E46 vehicles which are
supposedly heading our way.

(Note, this is from a list of VIN/VDS assignments)

It shows that M54 production begins Jun 2000 with
the 330i, most likely as an early 2001 model. Also
with a 323Ti model. (this would be cool!)

The production start dates seem a bit optimistic
in the case of the M3, but this list had the engine
pegged at 3.2 liters for nearly a year now.

(Interesting, Huh)

On my 89 325is, could not see the knurled press-fit bolts from
inside the car because the recesses in the floor were filled with a thick
slathering of body-colored silicone rubber from the factory. There
was no way in hell to see where these bolts were located from inside
as they had never been removed before.

I banged on em from below with various mallets and a hand-held
sledge hammer but they wouldn't budge no matter how hard i hit
em. So i came up with the idea of using the car's weight to
break them loose and it worked great :-)

I placed a small floorjack just below the bolt and raised the jack pad
till it just touched the bolt, then i gently and slowly pumped the jack
a few pumps and raised the car up off the jackstand about a 1/4 inch,
then the weight of the car broke the knurled bolt loose and the car
settled back down onto the jackstand, pushing the bolt up enough
to break it loose. From there i removed the jack and knocked the
bolt into the passenger compartment with a short dowel hit with a
carpenters hammer. Don't raise the car more than a 1/4" off the
jackstand cause you don't want it crashing down once that bolt
breaks free. If the bolt breaks loose but you still can't knock it
all the way up, use the jack again with a dowel up in the hole
through the bushing and use it as a reverse press to push the bolt
up and out. The thing that kept my bolts from breaking loose
was an inch-thick plug of body-color silicone rubber filling the
hole above the head of the bolts, not to mention the press-fit
of the knurled bolts themselves. When i jacked the bolt up, it
pushed the silicone up and out of the hole leaving an inch-long plug
of silicone laying on the floor. Make sure you pile some towels or
blankets over this area in case the bolt goes flying inside the car.
Apparently they've been known to go flying up inside the car and
damage things when knocked out, dunno if my method would
but i covered them anyway to be safe. I was surprised to find
the plug was so thick, that hole is so deep and the bolt's flat
head is hidden way down there. It wasn't visible at all before
i pushed it out of there, exposing the hole.

These knurled bolts are a tight fit as it is and being a press-fit makes
them very very tight, and the rubber plug above the flat round head
didn't help. I think the rubber plug made hitting the bolt with the big
hammer useless as the rubber plug would probably compress and
spread out, further gripping the side of the opening above the bolt's
head. It took jacking it up to push it up and out, hitting it did nothing.

Subject: [uuc] <FS> M3 Contour Wheels

Hi, all:
I am selling a set of M3 Contour Wheels. They are 7.5x17 on all four.
Due to several times of mounting and unmounting tires, 2 of the wheels are
chipped a little bit. Rest of them has a scratches on the lip. But, never
the less, they are all straight and true. I have never hit a curb or
sidewalk with these wheels.
I know they are not the best shape. If you get it clean, it still
shines and tires will cover the scratches on the lip.

I will let them go for $900, I will split the shipping charge if shipping is
needed. The wheels are at Ann Arbor, MI.

Photos will be available on request.

Perry.

So the wife had a pencil in her hand in the ol' E36 and when she threw a bag
in the back seat, she drew a long pencil line in the headliner.

I've been afraid to try to clean it, for fear of making it worse. Any one
know of any sure-fire cleaning methods to remove this mark?

Thanx in advance

I forgot whose M3 it was, but we saw Brian pull that panel off in about 12
seconds. Got it back on too.

We saw Brian do a couple of those also - in fact, the single ding on each of
my M5s was on the beltline crease. The blue one came out great and the
black one, being deeper, came out 95%.

Simply amazing.

We may make DentFest a more regular event. Combine it with
"ThrowRocksAtYourBMWfest" the day before...

Twas Wayne Miller's black M3. To see how to pull the interior side panel out,
mosey over to:

It has some pictures of all the anchor points and stuff.

I was amazed and bedazzled at what Brian did at DentFest. There's a local
place called Dent Worx - is that the same company? Turns out I've got a
good connection (the owner of the shop) so I'll get some free removals if
this is the same sorta place that did your work.

Ezra,

You know what else is in CSP (my friends know, since I've been whining about
it for the last few days)?

Audi S4s! Yes, they moved the E36 M3s into ESP to whomp on Camaros and
Firebirds, but left our E30 M3s to the tender mercies of S4s with coilovers.

They were out in force today at 3Com Park, but since the only E30 M3 was
cowering in Rookie class, I only had a couple of them to contend with.
