I think this an interesting issue though. Phil Marx wrote up an editorial on the same issue of existing BMW owners switching over to the Audi camp (current issue of Roundel). I must admit, when the A4 was first released I also considered purchasing this new auto which is consideribly cheaper and at the time a bit more up to date than the 3 series. However, I took into consideration the overall ownership experience of BMW. My experience after owning three new BMWs and going through the experience of purchasing, maintaining and trading in has been excellent. I purchased a then new, 1997 VW Jetta for one of my family members which has done nothing except literally fall apart ever since. The car now has 22,000 miles and has spent more time at the dealership then all of my BMWs combined. The third brake light fell off, the side moldings on the driver's side came off on the freeway, as did the molding on the passenger side below the door. The warranty VW/Audi offers is horrid. And the level of service offered is WAY below the level of service I have experienced with BMW. Due to all of these things, I decided purchasing an Audi (in my area they are sold primarily through VW dealers) would be a bad experience both from a quality of service and quality of product standpoint. I also did some research on the net of Audi A4 owners and their experience is in line with the experience I have had with my VW... the cars simply fall apart like an old 80's GM car. I wouldn't recommend anyone trading in their BMW for an Audi... The way I see it, it just cuts down on the use of my headlights, potentially prolonging their life - you know, sort of like balancing the load. Poor judgement / etiquette? Most SUV foglights (these are usually the evil culprits.. them and econo-racers) are mounted fairly high up from the road, and therefore blind peope sitting low in cars. Of course, people in cars' foglights have an equal chance of being aimed incorrectly, so they can be pointed up too high. I find the filling effect of the close range to be nice for turning and watching for potholes, and I even bought new foglights a few months ago, but I rarely use them. I guess I just didn't like having such huge holes in my front spoiler.. No seat hole is needed and the subs pull the latch in the correct direction. I would think this might work with the E36 stock lap belt mounting locations. Rear foglights are ONLY allowed when there's nearly no visibility left (I believe ~25m). I've seen quite a number of people getting pulled over because having only their city lights and the front foglights on to create a "B�ser Blick".
