Steven,

What you probably should do is cut a small hole into the padding near your
mouth and insert the mic from behind running the wires under the padding.
Don't put the mic right in the center, put it off some to the side the ear
piece will be on so that if you have a hard enough impact to get your face
into the chin guard you won't come out of it wired for sound.

Take a look at http://www.jmcorp.com/ for some really nice intercom
installations. These are for motorcycles but there's not much difference.
I'll be adding a couple more of these to some hats for my motorcycle soon.

i've decided to sell these forged, Fikse Mach V which i just got on trade.
These are the premire wheel for street or track. You can mount 245/40R17
all around on an E36 M3 without using any spacers (heeheehee...no
vibration). See picture of wheel at:

http://www.fikse.com/machv.gif

They can be seen originally on this car:

http://www.m3power.com/gallery/images/mycars/BMW/lwtside.jpg

Stright, true, very good condition. They are, however, dirty. These wheel
retail for $3500/set from Fikse direct, and $2000 from TMS.

I'm asking $1600 and I'll throw in UPS shipping anywhere in the US.

Car: 1990 325i, 114,500, 4 SI lights left til inspection 2

After filling up last night, I realize that I'm only getting about 14.5
mpg, and as gas prices rise, I'm not liking this. I also had the
emissions tested in VA last week, and just barely passed:

               15 MPH 25 MPH
           Limit Reading Limit Reading
HC ppm 148 56 144 135
CO % .83 .26 .92 .54
NO ppm 1110 173 1014 1013
RPM 1979 1976

The car runs perfectly--I don't see any power losses, idle is dead even at
~700 RPM, but I do occasionally get a slight hesitation when first
starting to accelerate. I haven't run the tests for the O2 sensor yet,
but I'm thinking it may be time for a new O2 sensor (as far as I can tell,
it's the factory sensor.) Does this sound right?

Kevin,

Verify your odometer accumulation against a known distance (i.e.,
drive a known distance and see if your odometer registers the
proper number of miles driven).

I am assuming that your speedometer is registering properly.

I don't think it's a matter of how much the M3 springs will lower a particular
car, it'll sit where it sits once you install them regardless of what height the
car started out with. The pics of my car sitting on the M3 springs will be
about the same ride height you'll get with your 325i. Other than factory
spring and shock selection, our two cars are indentical up front.

My car in stock form sat very high just like all the other 89-91 325i/is
cars i've seen (which is higher than most all the other 325 cars) and
the M3 springs lowered it exactly 3/4" in front and 1/2" in the rear.
Seeing as i had the tallest ride height of any 325 i've seen, i can't
see how someone else could get a 1.2" drop no matter what stock
spring they started out with. The only E30 i've seen higher than
mine was is the 84 318i. It looked like a Unimog :-)

Ah, good choice :-) Saves you about $350 too !

Oh i think you'll have less than 2 degrees negative when you're all done.
My 325is has KMacs up front and with them jammed all the way inward i'm
at 3 degrees negative on both sides, which is right where i needed to be for
autocross. Some of the money you saved by not buying Bilstein Sports
can be used to get a set of KMacs for your car :-)

Your existing 325i front swaybar is a silly millimeter larger than the
M3 bar so you may as well keep the stocker. For now.

>1. I know there are sometimes different thicknesses of rubber spring perch

There are three lower rear rubber pad thicknesses shown on the CD:
 Rubber lower spring pad 5mm # 31 53 1 136 385
 Rubber lower spring pad 7.5mm # 31 53 1 136 386
 Rubber lower spring pad 10mm # 31 53 1 136 387

As for the fronts, the CD shows two thicknesses of upper spring pad:
3mm: # 31 33 1 128 523
9mm: # 31 33 1 128 522 (<--- "only applies to coil spring red" whatever that means)

It only shows one front lower rubber spring pad: 3mm # 31 33 1 124 322

All six of these part numbers are shown equally for the M3 and
325i/is cars. My car must have had the thicker pads, but i suppose
if you wanted it to sit as low as possible then maybe get the thinner
pads all around. I don't know if the part numbers are imprinted on
your existing pads, but it might be worth a good look. Other than
a slight ride-height difference i can't see any issues using different
thicknesses.

>2. What other parts should I be replacing or considering while I'm replacing
>the springs?

Unless you need upper front strut bearings or rear upper shock mounts,
nothing comes to mind.... except maybe all new nylon self locking nuts.

Regular E30 325i/is Rear Shock Mounts # 33 52 1 091 427
Convertible E30 Rear Shock Mounts # 33 52 1 132 104
E30 M3 Rear Shock Mounts # 33 52 1 128 819 ($9.18 @ Nick A)

Someone was going to try this and get back to me, but i haven't heard
back yet. Nonetheless, your 325i bar is bigger so there'd be no advantage
to adapting the 19mm M3 front bar to your control arm mounting points.
Use the rear 14.5mm M3 bar, and keep your 20mm front bar. Or get a
21mm front bar from a convertible, or an adjustable 22mm front swaybar
from Racing Dynamics, or - or - or . . . .

Start with a stock iC and swap in M3 springs, bingo, more than the desired
.75" drop. Perhaps that's the combo that someone must have related to
