Maybe if you put an extra coil on +12V wire (permanent
or remote) and capacitor in paralell with ground, but
not elco, you should put block type of about 0,47, 1
or 2,2 uF.

Maybe this would help, but be carefull when trying
this not to connect +12V to ground (car body).

Maybe your current FM antenna needs +12V to supply
antenna amplifier, which should be connected at +12V
remote output of your radio, or just loose connection
with radio body.....

ARGH! This is sooo annoying ! I recently replaced the rear pads & rotors
on my '88 750iL. I coated the back of the pads with my trusty anti-squeal
compound. Next day the darn things are squealing like crazy. I thought it
might be the fronts, so I pulled all of them out, trimmed the corners,
re-applied anti-squeal compound to all 4 pads, and re-installed. Next day,
SQUEEEEEAL !!!!

I'm pretty sure its from the back brakes. new PBR Metal Master pads on new
ATE rotors. The only thing I noticed is that the rear pads are VERY tight
on the calipers. I had to tap them on with the back of a screwdriver and a
rubber mallet. I'm wondering if trimming the tabs so they aren't so tight
would help..

Any ideas guys?

Ditch AOL and get a real ISP.

The ONLY reason I don't filter all AOL addresses into my garbage is that
there are too damn many of them.

It's unfortunate that AOL decided to make people perform an extra step to
quote text. A simple, yet unnecessary, step that the vast majority of AOL
users either don't know about or are simply to lazy/stupid/pathetic to use.

There is no easier way to get deleted from my inbox than to come back to me
with a one line comment on a conversation we had 3 days ago. For most of
the idiots that do this, my email was one of four they received in the last
3 days. But for me, theirs is one of 250+ I receive each day and yet they
actually think they are impressive/important enough for me to remember who
they are and what we were talking about. NOT!.

Oh, one more thing that really PISSES me off about email in general, that
AOL users seem to be more guilty of than others, HOW ABOUT YOUR FRIGGIN
NAME!!!!. Too many fools out there actually think it's normal and
acceptable behavior to sign their email [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is that on
your birth certificate?!!

I wished I had my camera when I saw this car on 880 recently:

Yellow two-generations-ago Celica.
Partial black vinyl roof plus
Targa band plus
Black convertible from there back, with the plastic window half torn loose.

The worst part was, the vinyl and convertible plastic looked new!

Chamfer the leading edge of the pads with a grinder.

From: "Michael S. Radcliffe" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: [uuc] <WOB> Speeding, Valentine & Arrogance

I find (today) that I need a Valentine 1.

I have always considered myself a careful driver, a knowledgable speeder
& a relatively bright guy.

I am a lawyer & handle a lot of criminal/traffic matters. I have
represented my brother (you will know him as Racer X from the Speed
Racer cartoon) about 10X in the past 15 years for speeding
(exclusively). I consider it a badge of honor that the only thing
besmirching his record is an out of state matter. I continue to tell
him, as well as many other of my clients (those who pay), in as
arrrogant & condescending a tone of voice as possible that they don't
know how to speed. Then I give them my pet rules to speed:

1 Never in a residential area
2 Never more than 9 miles over the limit
3 If you can't abide by Rule 2 then NEVER EVER be the leader; duck
behind other fast traffic but don't hang yourself out in the fast lane
with nothing but radar pulses in front of you.

Of course a corollary to all of this is to "pay attention you nitwit."

This morning I am returning to my office after court. It is a beautiful
morning, I'm driving my 325ica with windows down.

I am on a highway in Maryland travelling in the fast lane. The left
shoulder is about 50 feet wide, there are no trees shrubs, etc between
the east & west bound lanes, the road is arrow straight, the road dips
down for about 1/3 mile & then rises for about 1/3 mile. It is sunny &
clear. Near the top of the rise of this dead straight piece of roadway
are 2 state police cruisers on this huge shoulder, visible to all but
the criminally stupid.

Complacent with my driving skills I am paying complete attention to
Howard Stern and his naked woman du jour. Sure enough, the Troopers are
NOT listening to Howard Stern. I see one of them start walking out into
the fast lane (Remember the fast lane? That's where no one is driving
except me) and I know I am toast. I didn't even see how fast I was
going (81 in a 55). Amazingly enough he knows me. After he and his
partner are finished laughing at me (partner knows me too) they let me
go.

The most embarrasing part in this is how visible this radar trap was & I
fell in it. I have often thought about a radar detector but was
complacent in my superior knowledge of how to speed.

I'm sending my money to Mr. V this week.

Subject: [uuc] 504i v M3

There was a thread a while ago on this. one conclusion, which I whole
heartedly concur with is that they are completely diffferent cars
yada yada yada. One thing is clear to me -- at speeds less than 137 mph
teh M3 is more fun to drive.

I have a chance to upgrade (?) from my 98 M3/4 to a low mileage (lease
return) 98 540i (sport) 6spd. My concern with the 540 is that the shift
linkage seems loose, wimpy, it creaks -- sturdiness about on the
equivalent of a VW bus (that I try to forget that I've driven somewhere
in my past but can't). (Sorry 'bout all the technical language, but my
mechanic days are behind me -- now I'm just a happy pedal masher). Is my
concern with this real or imagined -- i.e., are "they all like this"? The
car has only 16,000 miles, but tires tend to show more but even wear.
It's been several years since I've driven a 540 and I just expected that
shifting to be more positive. Always thought I'd jump at the chance to
"upgrade", but now I'm not sure -- it seems like more of a lateral move.

This is a dealer car, clearly. All else equal I would do a deal for our
Z3 and M3 for the beautiful red M Coupe he's got down there (if he'd throw
in an X5 <g>). Alas, all else is not equal. Momma told me that.

TIA for any replies re 504 shifting. Also flames and sympathy.

The 540i shifter assembly can be upgraded to feel much better than the M3
(and the M3 can be upgraded too).

Check out www.uucmotorwerks.com for details on the delrin carrier bushings,
cartridge bearing pivot, and improved-structure shifter.
