This would cause the left rear of the car to get a little loose and have less contact than the right rear, thereby "steering" the car from the rear. While there are other parts back there that could also be worn or broken (rear trailing arm bushings, dog bones, etc.) I am not certain that they would have this effect. Let me know what you find. (BTW, if your car is on a rack, a good BMW mechanic should be able to check all of this stuff in about 5 minutes. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Mar 2000 02:28:22 -0800 From: "Joe H. Idle stuck at 2,000 rpm! Typical of an ICV (but make sure all hoses are tight and well attached, etc). When they go, they can pass all Bentley tests but still be shot. There's no really good way to diagnose one, except by the symptoms exhibited by their failure (typical of what you are seeing). If or when you replace it, make sure to adjust the new valve's idle adjustment screw (both with and without A/C)). They rarely fall into spec straight out of the box, especially with older vehicles. How can I get it out?? Manual, You need special extractors for this. Snap-On makes a set (and yes, I do have it in my box) that's designed especially to remove snapped off bolts (actually they're screws, but we won't beat ya up too much on a technicality <g>) that are in engine components, etc. It consists of matched bits, Snap-On easy-outs, and alignment jigs so your bit will drill true. About $ 100.00 for the kit from your local Snap-On guy as I recall. Then, all you need is a drill, a hammer, and a steady hand. Your other option would be to call a mobile repair service and explain exactly what happened. Chances are the guy will have that kit (or similar) on his truck. Good Luck!
