Ken,

Animal oils, yep, and there in about everything else you buy or use in day
to day life. get over it. We pollute and destroy more by driving our cars
every day but we still do it. Sorry for the flame, but it's a fact.

Subject: [uuc] <E28> filler neck leaks

I found out last week that my gas tank is
leaking badly around the filler neck. I know
that E28 tanks tend to rust around there
preventing the gasket from sealing properly to
the filler neck. I'll probably take the tank
from my 528e parts car, clean it up..>>>>>>>..

Pay close attention to the little pipe outlets on top of the tank for rust.
I found it easier to cut the three small vent hoses in the trunk, and then
fish them out attached to the tank.

I had an 1984 318i (in 88-89-90) and they hold up great. Just clean them
regularly, and use something like Lexol's Vinylex on them once a month. You
might want the sheep skins for the winter, they get pretty cold. (sorry,
your in the warm climate, you'll need them so you don't melt to the seats!)

Well, I for one, given the choice of seeing BMW taken over by someone else,
or producing more SUV's, I'd take the latter. This seems to reaffirm BMW is
staying independent.

Hey gang, just a reminder.
Complete details are at
http://www.MidwestMotorsport.com

I just got a call asking to have my car on display.
So if any of yall are interested in seeing the UUC
Strut Barbarian or feeling the UUC Competition EVO
with Delrin bushings and ERK, drop by.

BTW, although my M3 sedan is new to me, I've driven an
E36 sedan for over 3 years. I had two other strut
brace bars installed before and can definetly say that
nothing I've experienced comes close to the Strut
Barbarian. I work with a bunch of engineering geeks
(some own BMWs) and even though they're not really car
guys, they drooled over my brace. They said it's
exactly the way they would have engineered it.

Hope to see some of yall this Saturday.

Since this has become a thread let me add. The cop himself should have been
charged with reckless endangerment. A smart cop with this ego in check
could have sped up _after_ the pass was completed to get pertinent
information.

the filter brand/design that JimC & Eurosport chose for their intake system.

Jim posted many moons ago about the significantly superior filtering
capability of the ITG filter vs. K&N's which apparently flow a lot of air,
but also dirt/particles.

I believe that the Eurosport/JimC are the sole US supplier of the
BMW-specific ITG fitments. they are apparently quite popular for other
makes of cars as well.

as we all know, JimC is the real deal & he does not sell stuff that he will
not put on his own vehicles, so the ITG would be the way I would go if I was
changing the intake on my car. (which I likely will do & go the complete
intake/shark-inject route.)

as always this is all IIRC (If I Recall Correctly for the 'net
acronym-impaired) so if anyone else has anything to add, go right ahead.

Can anyone provide a list of what model is represented by the individual

Any help would be appreciated.

I plan to add some stripes or graphics to my GT-3 2002 and was wondering if
anyone has a source for decals in Motorsport colours.

There was some discussion a while ago (which I ignored of course) about the
correct colours for the Motorsport stripes. I recall someone had Pantone
numbers and someone else had some other colour reference. Would appreciate
it if this info could be posted again.

I'm seriously thinking of the new 323 Sport Wagon. I've read on the various
pages, lists and FAQ's for all the info I could get. One question I have is
that I read that the 328 has larger brakes than the 323 and I wonder if the
larger brakes were put on the 323 Sport Wagon?

I see that the Wagon's diff ratio is the steeper 3.46:1 and the swaybars are
also larger to compensate for the 200+ lbs weight so I assume the brakes were
upsized too. Anyone?

I called my local dealer sales person but they were only able to read from
the standard brochure and were little help.

Subject: [uuc] RE: Dinan or Steve D bushings?

FWIW, I think Steve D's are technically superior. Someone correct me if I
am wrong but a few years ago it was pointed out that merely turning the 750
bushings down wasn't the proper way to do the job. They needed some
additional lathe done (I think they also had to be rounded somehow) to
prevent either the bushing or arm from potentially breaking when stressed.
I think Steve was the first to do this. Not sure about Dinan's. They may
or may not do this. No one else did at the time (I asked).

Buy from Steve.

Talk to the police accredited training schools out there, or anybody who
has gone to one. All these young cops come out with an attitude because
they train them that way. I can say this comming from a law enforcement
family, and seeing the difference in attitude and opinion amongst the
generations.Sad but true, nobody wants to be the local officer friendly
anymore. It boils down to one-up-man-ship on tickets, or arrests to inflate
there bragging rights. SAD...

He didn't fix it and he's a nice guy cause he didn't charge you?

I'm not saying he isn't a nice guy, but that ought to be normal.

I don't think the brakes are bigger. The diff ratio is probably differnt to
make for better towing. Didn't know about the sways, but do know that the
rear springs are a bit stiffer. (To compensate for loads in the wagon.)

I think you misunderstand. If the above can be construed as 'bashing'
Dinan - then you have misread what I said. I said Steve is a nice
guy (from personal experience), I've not heard Dinan called this.

Now I have.. so, I'll amend it: Steve is still a nice guy, and Paul
Moriarty said Steve Dinan is a gem of a human being (or nice guy).
