Now, if you get on the Snap-On truck you'll see the most trick little oil filter wrench ever made, (assuming you can get access to the filter from the bottom with a 3/8" drive extension). This oil filter wrench has three 'arms' that operate off a series of eccentric gears in the base of the wrench. When you insert your 3/8" drive extension in the base of the wrench and give it a crank, the arms rotate into the filter, grab it, and simply twist it off with easy rachet action. Made in a medium and large size, I finde these can even take off those nasty little Honda oil filters that are tucked away on many of that makers cars. About $ 20.00 each. If you want an M3 killer go buy a dirt cheap Z3 2.8 coupe with good shocks, brake pads, and 17" wheels/tires; the M3's are now toast in SCCA A-Stock autox competition. As a first time BMW owner all of your messages tips and advice have been both entertaining and helpful. I need you help again. The cloth on the door panels on my 92 325i is starting to bubble. Is it possible to reglue the cloth to the panel? Is it difficult and does anyone know the procedure. Also the cloth is showing some wear so I am considering replacing it. Can anyone recommend someplace where I could get replacement cloth material for the panels or is it better to get new panels? For $65 bucks a tire, W(Z)-rated, 320 wear rating and at half the cost of the Pilot XGT V4's that are on it, it's too good a deal to pass up. I've had good luck with good old D40M2's, then Sport 4000's on my 90 535i (though the 4000's wore fast). Tire Rack was pushing the Turanza Revo's but methinks there may be a spiff lurking there somewhere. Others suggested Firestone SZ50's (too boy-racer and $114), the Mich MXV Energy Greens, ($120+) but yuck. I've not had good luck with Pirelli's, so I'm not a good judge there. Discount was pushing their Yoko A308 for around the same $60-70, but I've never seen them sold ANYWHERE else. Sears sells the Dunlop Sport 5000's but the boneheads wouldn't match Discount's or Tire Rack's prices. They wanted $109 EACH. "$65? No way! That's less than they cost us!" Yeah, right. Then all I'll buy are their batteries. Stabbed that thing more times than Richard Speck would've done. It was bloody....oil everywhere....TAKE THAT !!!! (stab-stab)......sucker came off though after it was mostly shredded and I was VINDICATED !! Then I went to grab the NEW oil filter....... Oh shit. They gave me the wrong bore size at the auto parts store. And it was Sunday. And they were closed. And there was no place to get one. Guess who didn't go to work on Monday morning 'cause he mutilated his old oil filter? <g> The nice thing about getting old as dirt is you get smarter 'cause you usually did most all the stupid things at least once already. Almost as much fun as throwing the switch on the kid's motorized Legos. And the 'fridge is NEVER empty of Rolling Rock....ever.....you know that, Rob! > What on earth has the Seven Sled done? I am open to accepting donations of any manual transmission BMW, which can be deposited at my doorstep with heartfelt thanks. Preferably said car will run, not be too rusty, have only one seat in it and a cage. Dents are fine. Trim hanging off is fine, too. Headliner falling down is desirable as it gives me an excuse to rip it out. The Seven is sweet, but its boring....hell, cops don't even look at me in the thing anymore. Wimmen ignore it. Teenage boyz don't droll over it. It's a pig off the line. It's like a really, really, REALLY nice Chevrolet Caprice Classic.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. The Ultimate Daily Driver Commuter Car and Freeway Bomber it 'tis, but its about as 'sporting' as a Freightliner at an Autocross. The voice of my experience says "Run away." I got one from Bavarian Autosport for about $45. The impeller was cast iron, and the slots cast into it which actually move the water were tiny. It also leaked for the first few days. I sent it back to BavAuto, and put in a BMW OE part - welded up steel impeller which, while ugly, looks like it will move much more water. No leaks either. $80 from the dealer with CCA discount. "Any PC built after 1985 has the storage capacity to house an evil spirit." - - Rev.
