With drivers side tire off the ground and tranny in neutral I can turn the driveshaft about 1/2 inch and the tire moves back and forth. With the tire on the ground there is still 1/4 inch of play. The play is not between the driveshaft and the pinion flange.Could this play be the source of the clunk? If it is,what am I looking at parts wise and dollar wise.Any help will be appreciated. No fade but a little less stopping power by the end of the session. I did 12k street miles, two autocrosses and two track days before I had to replace the fronts (they were down to 4mm and I was headed for Sears Point). The rears are still ok. I got another set for the front instead of buying four new pads. They squeek a bit under light braking if a little hot. I haven't really experienced a noticeable warm up problem. I am having my rotor thickness checked next week--there is a slight lip and the fronts were replaced at the time I put the first set in. Dust is significant and at least equal to the stock pads. They really grab and when hot you better make sure there is nothing lose in the back seat. Overall I am happy with them but plan on going to street pads and switching in race pads at driving schools (more economical in the long run). I have heard good things about EBC Green by the way as a good street/track pad. Call Ireland Engineering in L.A. for info on those. It's consuming water and there is a bit of the frothy stuff on the dip stick and the exhaust smells like coolant (no white smoke though). I'll be doing the timing belt & tensioner & water pump at the same time. The head bolts had been changed to the new style at about 70k miles, (now 145k miles) Do I need new bolts again? Anything else I will need? I plan to take the head off with the manifolds still attached. How can I confirm that the head is not cracked? We saw each other at about the same time, and on went the lights. I quickly yanked the V1 (wanted to beat it with a hammer), and put it under the seat. Well he issued me a citation for 87 in a 65, and to put salt in the wound, he gave me a ticket for expired inspection :o( So now i'm thinking (after joining the NMA) that he never used the radar, but saw me flying up on him and estimated my speed to be 87mph, although it was written that he used stationary radar. i can't believe that i didn't get ANY warning from the V1, even instant on would have told me something.. Besides getting the legal defense kit from the NMA and calling lawyers, does anyone have any advice? i'm gonna go by their nest, i mean department and try to get some info under the VA freedom of info! act. i want to get a copy of the officers copy of the ticket, info on the radar used, and his log book from that day. am i dreaming by thinking i can get this? according to NMA, it's my right, but i'm not sure i can pull it off. Also, since i wasn't sure of my speed, if the speedometer was to be calibrated at about 15mph off, would that save me??
