That profile only works because of the finger followers. A bucket tappet cannot be used with an inverse flank. Notice it is only on one side of the cam. The cam to follower contact line moves across the follower as the cam operates so the cam profile needs to be asymmetric. It is difficult to grind a concave shape. This is another example of performance over cost. The oil pan is effectively a dry sump system with the reservoir built into the pan. Gary Derian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Brett: > > Nice pictures! Here are the particulars: '97 328i sedan VIN WBACD4327VAV46749 Montreal Blue gray leather interior auto transmission upgraded Harmon Kardon stereo factory 6 CD changer heated seats and locks On Board Computer split fold down rear seat sun roof power windows, locks, seats, etc. The car is in virtually perfect shape, with 31,xxx miles. Everything works just as it's supposed to. Synthetic oil changes every 4000 miles, tires rotated every 3000 miles or so, garaged, hand washed only, Blitz waxed every 3 months, parked miles from anyone else. The car has never been tracked, autocrossed, or even Concoursed! It has Blizzak winter tires mounted on separate BMW alloys as well. We planned on keeping this a long, long time and it's been perfect so far. However, after selling my 911 last year, I have the urge for a manual transmission again and succumbed to the power of a 540i. I'm asking $26,000 with the snow tires and rims (and extra oil filters and air filters). I don't think you will find a nicer E36 sedan. The Montreal Blue is a deep, rich color that receives many compliments and has been well taken care of. The car is located in the suburbs of Chicago. Please email me if you want any further details. Sorry for the WOB and cross posting. Donn York ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 12:16:45 -0400 From: Doug Foster <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: RE: [uuc] speed.... Well, since I can't control myself anymore I will join in... I've seen 135 on my speedo on two wheels (lower speed calibrations showed about 8% error so its really 125) I've seen 132 or so on 4 wheels (91 Eagle Talon... not calibrated) Still haven't opened up the 540. But if it all may have been a dream... because I would never drive that fast in real life ;-) Doug Foster 94 540iA 90k miles, new for me 94 Miata 58k miles, for sale $7,900 90 Kawasaki ZX600C 15k miles, for sale $2200 -----Original Message----- From: Evan Arnerich [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2001 11:37 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [uuc] speed.... 1st wrote: >Rob started it, Who has gone the fastest here on wheels? > I have gone 128 or so. How cheap is that... velcro... It stopped functioning about a week after I picked up my car and the mat slides up towards the pedals every day and gets a gentle tug back into place... every day... Anyone have a fix for this? (I'm hopeful!) BTW, I got on track at Willow Springs during a open session on the Saturday before the Porsche enduro. WSIR is awesome! The elevation gain/loss going up that short steep hill is quite a thrill and I can't wait to take a driving school there! Don't ride it in a car or you will annoy the motorcyclists and barf at least twice before you get to the end! I don't remember any straights longer than a few hundred feet at any place. You cannot relax while riding it. There is a motorcycle only campground there and in the store portion of it there are pictures of wrecked bikes up and down the road. It is fun, but be careful!
