Asking a question for a friend who isn't on the digest. Please respond off the list and I'll let him know. He's in the market for wheels and is looking at the BBS RK but tire rack has them backordered for 3-4 weeks and our local (relatively) car toy shop who is a large BBS distributor doesn't have any either. He'd like to get them a sooner than 3 weeks before the upcoming track event at Heartland Park. Anyone know places that have reasonable prices on BBS wheels and might have RKs in stock? They're for a '98 M3, btw. I am looking to replace the "power couch" drivers seat in my 1986 535i with an aftermarket sport seat. I prefer cloth with manual adjustability, similar to the E30 sport seats (which I did try to fit...too narrow). Have any of you E28 guys ever tackled this project? If so any recommendations as far as brand, style, etc? But the check light kept on blinking after I pressed the brakes. I checked to see if my brake lights came on and they did. So what do I look for to rid this problem. The check light is on on the overhead unit as well. any help would be great. Kyle Sanchez CCA 175883 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I attributed the effect to viscosity stabilizer shear-down, the chewing up of the long-chain viscosity stabilizer molecules used to create multigrade oils from non-synthetic base oils. I felt that the high cylinder wall temperatures associated with the air cooled engine were a contributor. Do you have a theory as to why you experience the same increase in consumption with mileage effect with a synthetic, which presumably relies on inherent base oil viscosity properties and does not use viscosity stabilizers?? I change my Chevron Delo 15W-40 at 3500 miles. My consumption at 91,000 miles is near-zero. I change the oil to freshen the additives package, not because of base oil or viscosity stabilizer deterioration. From all I've gleaned from 30+ years in the oil business I've come to the conclusion that regular oil changes are good, synthetic only adds life to the engine because of the wear present at start-up, and a good quality dino-based oil is sufficient for most needs, if you change regularly. Why do I use synthetics at all? Because I sell them, and I guess on the newer cars I want the little extra protection they "may" provide. I have started extending the change interval on the v-8 cars but still change more frequently than the service indicator would recommend. Oil is cheap, even the synthetic, compared to the alternative, so get a good oil, change it often, and go worry about something else. My theory is that some stabs at the pedal are so quick that the check circuit sees the switch on the pedal engaged, but doesn't get enough current back from one of the lights to acknowledge the check circuit, hence it thinks there's a problem. There is a relay back there. As near as I can tell, the check panel gets a signal from the break wiring after the switch, and looks for a ground on a wire that goes to the check relay. The coils of this relay are in series with the break lights. If one is burned out, coil never gets power and the contacts never ground the check panel. Thus raising a fault condition. A fast stab at the breaks could cause the "brakes applied" signal to get to the check panel, but not allow the "brakes ok" relay to close. Result: Brakes applied, but no associated brakes ok signal. Fault. Slow down and you should be ok. Now, explain why puting your foot on the brakes and then starting the car results in the same fault. I can't. BTW, this relay is the main reason that I haven't doubled up my brake bulbs yet. I have the contacts in the bottoms of the sockets, but when I realised the stresses on the check relay I decided to not install the bulbs until I could get some relays and a seperate fused supply back there. The side effect is that I can get doubled brake bulbs (94W total back there!) and a rear fog too. When I get done I will post my modifications. I am planning on using all BMW parts too. - -- Joe - -- Joseph M. Krzeszewski Network Operations [EMAIL PROTECTED] Jack of All Trades, Master of None... Ride of the Valkyries is from the second one, Die Walkre, I believe. Always a fovorite tune for dramatic effect, remember the helicopter scene from Apocalypse Now? Never liked the stuff myself though my Mom listens to it a lot. In fact, until I realized it by accident a few years ago, I thought "Der Gotterdammerung" was the whole opera! I heard of that first when Sir Peter Medawar was defending, in a recorded BBC interview, the mad rush to publish that scientists had compared to writers who did things in a much more dignified manner by saying that Wagner wasn't exactly worrying that someone would run out and patent "Der Gotterdammerung" before him. When I mentioned it to my Mom, she laughed and pointed to the multiple-CD set on her shelf and said, "If all there was on it was Der Gotterdammerung for 16 hours no one would ever have heard of Wagner. What junk!" I guess the other parts must have been better! One of these days I'll listen to it and see for myself though I suppose suites are available for 'quickie' listens.
