Hi maybe I have mistaken him, but its just his page reminds me of someone I warned the list about, but that was long ago..see also..Roadfly E46 M3 complaints. If he's right about half the stuff he's saying, Lexus has every right and proper aim to kick the ---- out of the M3 within three years. If not, than everyone about to rant about his complaints as the product of a mind used to valet parking and valve jobs until his M sounds liike a Buick toadmaster. Let the Bimmer buyer beware, but indeed, he is one incensed individual...alas, at least this time, it ain't me.. but I do believe there is some credence to what he's saying...or to quote Obi (Lucas, G.).."in any confilict, the simplest explanation is usually the correct one", Time m ight tell..please prove him wrong, E46 M3 listers! I visited his site and looked at his complaints. There is nothing significant here that a little due diligence ahead of time on the web would not have uncovered. I am not a BMW apologist, but complex systems don't always work as expected, dealers sometimes suck, and you have to take it all into account with what is important to you. This guy did not due his own homework. Audio problems with an E46 M3, Don't need no steenkin' audio other than the exhaust note. No spare tire! That's no secret, started with the E39 M. Personally I expected a lot more problems with my M5 than I've had. I would put up with a lot of crap for the fun of driving this car when it works. Amazingly enough so far it has worked 100% of the time. Of course I don't much give a shit what the CD player sounds like as long as it works at all. Lets see, 1st to 2nd gear transmission clunk in a "cheap" E46 M3. E39 M5's and I think earlier M cars have had lots of complaints about 1st to 2nd gear shifts. M geeze sucks in a 1st to 2nd gear shift. It doesn't clunk it grinds if I'm trying to do it fast or the tranny is cold. There is absolutely no speed or rpm that it does it smoothly. If I didn't want a car with a little personality I would have bought a F&*%&% Buick with an auto trans and banked the rest. Hell I'm preaching to the choir, rant mode off. One of the last sovereign bastions in America. Maryland lumps all distracted driving under negligent driving. If the officer can't demonstrate lack of safe control, you duck the points. This last week alone, driving with the cruise on to the resorts at Ocean City, MD with both feet out the window was not negligent. Others that are following this thread, read on. . . To all, So far on this thread, I've seen that cell phones cause 1.0% of all accidents on the roads, and I've seen that, statistically, cell phones cause just as many accidents as alcohol/drunken driving. Hmmm, so either alcohol causes only 1% of all accidents, too, or there are some VERY different statistics from some VERY different studies. As always, the truth is in the second choice. As with every statistic and study, there is another datum and another study to counteract it. Drunk driving, cell phones, amount of pollution caused by SUVs, amount of damage an SUV inflicts upon other cars, number of under-18 drivers that are killed, number of seatbeltless people that are killed. . . you get my point, right? I could create my own study and come up with the results I want, proving that cell phones cause IMMENSE innattention and, therefore, many accidents. Of course, it would be useless since I'm no official scientist/engineer, but if I were, I could do the same thing and get all kinds of press -- good and bad -- over it. I agree with everyone that says that the last thing we need is another law to cost taxpayers more money and to waste more of police officers' time by pulling over motorists for "petty" things such as lack of seatbelt (but wait! you can die if you don't wear one! You can die if you DO wear one, too) and too loud music (now THERE'S a cause of an accident right there <sarcasm>). In addition, I love to speed (hence, my recent purchase of $440+ worth of "radar avoidance equipment,") and I hate speed limits. But, guys, lets realize, here, that not everyone is the same. Not everyone is a good driver, but some are. Not everyone can speed safely, but some can. Not everyone can even drive AT the speed limit safely, lol, but some can. Not everyone can talk on a cell phone and drive safely, but some can. Not everyone can drink and drive safely, but there are a precious few (I doubt I'm included; never tried it) that can. The problem with ANY kind of government regulation is the fact that they have to be so broad that they don't apply to a certain race/ethnicity/other group and discriminate against them, but, at the same time, they have to be detailed enough to where they apply to SOMEONE and to where they allow SOME type of freedom in this "democracy" (is it really a democracy if we don't like something but it has to stay anyway?). So, where am I going with all of this? I have no clue. I think I forgot my actual point, lol. But, lemme come up with one real quick. My point of all of this is that laws, in general, SUCK. They are a waste of my tax money. They are a waste of my time (I have to flip through the news that explains all this shit when I try to watch SportsCenter). And, many of them are completely pointless. Yet, these same laws are the things that keep us alive. If it weren't for speed limits, all of the law-abiding citizens that drive like shit would be driving horrendously fast and killing us all. If it weren't for the DUI laws, all of the law-abiding citizens that like to drink on the weekends would be driving in MY lane and killing ME. The point of my post was to say that at least this law keeps SOME people (hopefully some of the ones that can NOT drive safely with a cell phone) doing what they're supposed to be doing while they're behind the wheel: DRIVING. My last point is this: if you think that you are good enough of a driver to break a certain law (speed limit, driving with a cell phone in your ear, whatever the law that you choose to break may be) and don't want to follow it, then DON'T. Just don't endanger anyone else. I follow this rule by speeding, by the way. I didn't mean to piss anyone off. I was just happy that something's finally going to be done about all the idiots that have no clue WHAT they're doing while they have their cell phone in their ear. Happy driving to all. Brad Couvillon '87 528e P.S. As a personal rule, I NEVER even turn my cell phone on while driving. My mother always asks me what the point of having a cell phone is if she can't get in touch with me while I'm driving. My reply? "I'd rather be out of touch than dead." __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
