Ryan, I know this was marked as WWWOT, but you can find pictures quite easily with a Google's new beta Image Search engine. Typing in the string "DeHavilland Beaver" into http://images.google.com/ yields several images of the aircraft that you're looking for (I think). The search engine yields results ranging from excellent to poor. It can also find lots of porn, but the default search uses its "maturity filter." It's also very effective at finding pictures of cars -- try "BMW M3" or "BMW LMR." The receiver is supported with 4 bolts and backing plate vertically on the tire well and with 6 bolts, 3 on each side of the receiver tube, all with either a backing plate or large backing washers. I did not have to trim the rear valance at all, even though everything I read said I would. After snaking the vertical mount between the valance support and the tire well, all that was required was some minor coaxing to get it together with no trimming at all. Is there a part number for the wiring harness? I'd be interested in that since I have yet to hook up the wiring adapter. Will the wiring harness work with US style lights on only the Euro style? The Euro hitches are sleek, but have metric balls. (I see some jokes coming) I would like a small receiver hitch for my 525iT for light towing and a bicycle rack but the DaLan hitch for an E34 has only a tongue and a mount for the hitch ball. It also attaches to the floor and bumper which doesn't seem like the best way. I think I will have a custom hitch welded up that attaches to the bumper attachments. My neglected and abused (not by me, by the POs) 84 325e has had really bad off-idle and on-idle (trailing throttle) response since I bought it last summer. A couple of days ago it miraculously healed itself. Not only is it's off-idle and on-idle response improved to the point where it's nearly as good as my pampered track car, my around town gas mileage has shot up from 25-26MPG to 29MPG. Any ideas? I was thinking perhaps it listened to a faith healer on the radio :) The good thing about the crappy trailing throttle response was that I've really learned how to roll off the throttle smoothly :) It was one reason why I never really made any effort to find the cause and fix it. The other reason is that I'm cheap :) Joel 87 325is 84 325e ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jun 2001 14:07:52 -0400 From: "Pat Donahue" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] BMW hitches in general, was E36 M3 trailer hitch Let me know. I've been very happy with the setup. Only thing to watch out for is that I know a few people with the same hitch who have had the metal in the spare tire well start to tear out around the hitch bolts - they had to get it welded back together. Someone out there wrote up some instructions on modifying the Da'Lan hitch to add another mounting point. You can find them on Dale Beuning's Unofficial BMW site at <http://www.unofficialbmw.com//e36/exterior/e36_trailer_hitch_faq.html>. I haven't had this problem, but if I were to get the hitch installed again, I'd probably look into having this modification done. I've seen some comments about modifying the rear valance of the M3 - I had to trim mine to fit around the hitch. Basically, you need to cut out a 1/4" x 8" piece way back under the bumper. This will not be visible, unless you are laying down under the rear bumper. I cut mine with a pair of aviation snips and a file - no big deal. The only other thing that I had to do was to find a ball mount with a higher rise than stock, since my M3 has been lowered. Not too tough, just another piece that had to be ordered from the hitch place. I ordered my hitch and got it installed through a local trailer shop. Otherwise, you can either order it directly from Da'Lan, or try <http://www.hitch-web.com>.
