(are those two bushings the same or different? anyone got P/N's handy?) it can be any of those so dammit might as well replace 'em all. Can someone point me to some info on hard-wiring your Radar Detector. I saw someone in another board say the "UUC guys hard-wire to the map light" but didn't give any more info than that. I can't afford to buy a new V1 at this point, but for now my old Passport will have to do. Specifically I'm looking for installation instructions for an E34. I heard that rumor too... about 4 years ago, 3 years ago, 2 years ago, last year... Always question the source of the rumor. Valentine is not a company to float "rumors" and a recent call to them revealed no new model coming out. In terms of "new model", why? They update the V1 as necessary (and provide an update service for older models) and it is already the best unit at any price, and Mike Valentine appears committed to keeping it that way. What would you change, size? Sure, if you wanted less effectiveness... but the unit is already on par with most competing units' sizes. I had a super-tiny Uniden a couple of years ago, the thing was useless compared to the larger one it replaced. - - Rob > From: "John Coffin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 08:45:51 -0700 > To: "bmwuuc" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: [uuc] New model of Valentine One? > > I heard a new model of the Valentine (Valentine Two?) is coming out. I'm impressed with it, although I don't think it has the soul of an M3 or a P-car. Could be my bias talking, though. Anyway, he decided that it's not fast enough. So he shipped it off to some tuner in Houston. The thing now has 550 hp AT THE REAR WHEELS. It also has the full coilover setup, big-ass brakes, etc etc etc. The downside is that they're still shaking the bugs out of it. It has a nasty habit of losing oil pressure on the track. Jeez you guys! You're getting hosed. I had a custom hitch made for my Porsche. Can someone give me a reason (beyond the 282hp vs 225 hp) why the 4.4 X5 is worth about $10,000 more? I'm leaning towards a three year lease on a 3.0 X5-loaded. Below are the terms and conditions I've gotten so far. $585/month for 36 months, 15,000 mles/year with $9k down and a $22k purchase buy-out with .10 cents/mile overage. I was wondering what kind of deals digesters have gotten on theirs? Any help/advice would be appreciated. Chris 89 M3 95 M3 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The radiator on our (new to us) 1995 M3 just broke it's top neck off, spewing antifreeze everywhere. Luckily she was a few hundred yards from work so she pulled in and parked the car. I am assuming that the plastic water pump gave up (no records of it being replaced) and this the weakest link (apparently the top radiator neck in this case) to fail. Does this sound right? Now the big question: what all do I need to replace? Can the radiator be repaired or is this a terminal event? I'm assuming new water pump, hoses, and repair/replace radiator. How about thermostat? Should I do the belts while I am in there? Anything else? Finally, is there any reason I cannot or would not want to do these repairs myself? I get one free tow and figured I'd have the car dragged home. I'd hate to have to pay to take it to a mechanic later... On a related note, the BMW dealer/mechanic records I got with the car are pretty useless. It states "Inspection II" and lists a charge, but does not tell me what has been done. The car has 72k miles and all service is up to date. Can I assume the belts were replaced or is this not a regular service interval item? Thank you all for your help. I'm going to try and order parts before everyone heads out for beer, BBQ, and fireworks. Group, I was hoping that someone could tell me the date that BMW switched over from the plastic impellar water pump to the metal variety. My new to me M3 (6/96 production date) does not show any record of having the pump replaced and I was considering it as a preventative measure, if I do in fact have the plastic impellar. It apparently had blown the radiator (same failure that you mention) and then ate it's water pump (melted the plastic impeller). In your case, it could be that the pump failed and the plastic radiator was the weak link, or it could be that the radiator just gave up. Either way, you will be taking the radiator out, so digging down to the water pump shouldn't be that much more work. I would change out the water pump just to be sure. Belts will have to come off anyway, so you might as well put new ones on if there is and question as to the old ones. I would say go for it. Do the repairs yourself if you have the time and some wrenching experience. At least you won't be fighting the hood like on the E30's. - -- Joe - -- Joseph M.
