I would be concerned with just using the 5.5" area to support the car because of the stress in an area that is not reinforced and it would be a real b#%ch to bend an $80K automobile in half. But what if you used a 2 or 3 foot piece of 2X4 between the car and the jack, would the pressure of the jack then be dispersed from an area that is 5" X 5" to an area that is 4" X 72". I'd be interested in hearing anybody elses thoughts on this although I can barely fit my floor jack under the car by itself, let alone with a 2 X 4 on it. I have seen that the S2000's have jacking points on the front and rear of the car so that you can lift both front or both rear wheels at the same time, you might want to check out your options there. Tim Y2K 323Ci -> can jack up one side using one jack point. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! There are several WA guesses as to why this might be occurring: 1. Pulsating fuel pressure caused by: a. Bulging fuel lines b. Beginnings of fuel pump failure (in-the-tank or main) c. Weirdness of the fuel pressure relief valve d. Clogged fuel filter (but why pulsations?) 2. Oil on clutch plate? 3. Something haywire in the Motronics system: a. Airflow Meter b. DME c. Weird air-by-pass valve d. Weird full throttle switch (although problem occurs at low, below 3500, RPM e. Weirdness in fuel pump relay (replaced it, symptoms reduced but not gone) 4. Some other mysterious BMW gremlin The car starts and runs great - occasionally the car runs fine. The problem actually seems to get worse when the air conditioning is turned on. (Implying an electrical problem?). I have exchanged the airflow meters from my 535 to my wife's with no effect. The air by-pass valve and in-the-tank fuel pumps are relatively new. The main fuel pump seems fine but we ran out of fuel once about 11 years ago - I've heard that that can cause pre-mature pump failure. I've looked at the top of the fuel tank and all the pump terminals appear in good shape. The FP relay has been replaced. I suspect the main fuel pump or the fuel pressure relief valve. Anyone who can help me in this endeavor would you please email me direct <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (as well as to the list). It was created by the inability of Colonial Englishmen to replicate the native pronunciation of said word. Me, I'd have picked pyjamas/pajamas to make the point Neil made :) - --Avi. You should be able to here a click when you just move the throttle cable by hand. If not loosen the screws very little and move the switch until you hear this click then back off until you hear it again then tighten the screws. Try thr moving the cable to hear the click then take it for a drive. The proper method is to jack from the ends. Do the front first, and then the rear or vice versa. Put the jack under the differential and then under the sub frame on the front. Somewhere in the vicinity of the hub on each wheel is the ABS ring and sensor. The rings must be clean and rust-free, and the sensor has to be mounted correctly, plugged in and working. Any problem in this area can cause the ASC+T problem you're describing. It is possible that the Shell station yahoos did something bad to these components when they did the brakes (what on earth were you thinking, man?). Maybe the e-brake pin spinning around the hub caused damage to one or more of these components. I would start there. Often when things work, and then someone works on the car and things don't work any more, the first place you'll find a problem is the last thing that was worked on. Or something like that. As for where to take the car, if you suspect some non-dealer work is the culprit, start with a non-dealer shop to verify that the non-factory parts/non-dealer work is not the source of the problem. THEN if the problem persists, take it to the dealer. They might hassle you, but they should still be able to diagnose and fix the problem.
