DONT try with the 528e. If it is in great shape, INT etc. just find a 535i with a ratty int. swap them out and then sell the 528e. You will spend alot of time and money and still not have anything close to the 535i. If you dont like it stock, then it will not get much better no matter what you do short of changing motors. I dont care if you chip it, diff, etc. a new anything will smoke it. Now, after you drive a stick 535i, you will love it. and driven easily, can return good mileage aswell. I put about 150,000 miles on one and it is right up there with my LTW M3 as my fav car so far. At 25k he had to replace his tires due to the inside tread being gone. He's a little upset he only got 25k on the OEM tires. He had the shop (not a BMW Center) check the alignment, and was told the rear camber is a negative 3 degrees. That sounds excessive to me. Is the rear camber not adjustable (like the E30 and E36)? Is 3 degrees negative too much? I think that they're referring to the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyre, a new R-compound tyre released recently in Europe, as yet not available here in the US. the M3 CSL is noted as being 10 seconds faster around the Nurburgring in BMW testing at 8:05. production will be limited at 1,000 units per year. I can just see the whiney bastards who don't like their rattly exhaust-ed, clunking shifter-ed E46 M3's here complaining about their tyres wearing out too fast & the car being too noisey... oh, wait BMW will never sell the car here in the States when their dealers are getting $5k over sticker for the standard version. unless of course they can charge $10k extra for removing the equipment, using the Porsche GT3 marketing model.... The lawn service has already acknowledged fault and agreed to pay. I agreed to try a detail job in hopes a good buffing would take out the tiny white spots on my Jet Black 92 325i. It didn't work, so now I have some questions. 1) I've heard I should either paint the whole car or not at all. One local shop that does excellent work but only does accident/insurance work and would probably only do the hood and "blend" with the two front fenders. Any opinions? 2) Another local shop (Mexican guy who calls his shop "Fender Benders") did a friend's '63 Vette and it's the most gorgeous paint job I've ever seen. The car is midnite blue and the paint looked like it was 10 feet deep....kinda like staring down into a deep, dark lake. I talked to them today and he said he could do that to mine. It's a process called "color sanding". His price is excellent. Entire car with the color sanding process for $1050! I haven't talked to the shop in #1 yet, but my bet is their cost for the hood only will be close to this! Has anyone heard of or had any experience with this process? It's $300 more for the color sanding but it's worth it! (Especially if someone elses insurance is picking up the tab and this guy's price is so reasonable anyway). They told me the only disadvantage is you can't take your car through a mechanical car wash again due to the high pressure, which is really no problem with me because I hand wash it anyway. The shop has a good reputation and they use only PPG paint. Any opinions on brands of paint? 3) Any advice from others who have been down this road before? Mike, since I see this all day long in my day job, I am going to take a guess that what you are trying to say is the insurance company bid to repair the rear bumper cover? If so, then depending on the damage to the cover it very well CAN be repaired and it will look BRAND NEW after the repairs.. Plastic repairs are EASY and are done by qualified� body shops all the time.. if the cover is� just� ripped then go ahead and allow� the body shop repair it.. It's probably a better option than getting a used� bumper cover from God knows where! The exhaust can also be bent back possibly by the way... You'd have to talk to a good muffler shop that does QUALITY work.. Most muffler shops (midas, car-x� etc.) would rather just cut your old exhaust off and install a new one.. The same goes for body shops.. It's a lot easier� for them to tell you that the part should be replaced rather than repaired.. Why? They get to make money on the new part too.. Most� insurance companies pay body shops 10-15 % markup on NEW parts... The markup can be as much as 20-30% on USED parts.. Mark Williams Dallas, TX claim rep by day.... PS..
