If your just wanting to archive them, get a program like Nero (www.ahead.de) it's very powerful but they have kept it fairly simple. If you are wanting to watch them on a DVD player, it get a bunch more complicated. You would need to do some file converting (to a VCD compliant format) and have a DVD that can read burned CD's. Check out www.vcdhelper.org for a big resource on that type of conversion and playing. I won't go so far as to say using the BMW knob _CAN'T_ be done, but I'm thinking it will be difficult at best. If he is handy, he could try to machine the proper notch into the top of the Jetta's shifter. Hope this helps. I, and I think many others of you have installed Blau Toronto CD decks in our Bimmers. After 2 years of heavy use, the buttons on the "thummer" have come loose and don't always return to home position. I opened mine up, there is a little "tree" or "backbone" that supports the 7 buttons. 2 of the "branches" are broke (made in china) and look like unglueable. Did a little research, and a replacement is kinda expensive and they wont sell just the "tree". Found out that there is a hand-held remote (rc-06h) that looks pretty nice and has all the same functions. Found a source for this one from a place that sells a lot of blau stuff on Ebay. Mitsubishi does this on some of the more exotic turbo-charged cars, but a more common example is the Nissan Maxima. The car is Diamond Black with clear coat and has two sections that if possible could use a spot paint over (the clear coast has begun to lift). The other sections are all in great shape except the two. The current paint job is only about 5 years old. I've heard that spot painting is not reliable, that the repaint must be renewed back to the seams or edges of a section. One of the two areas is on the roof.
