Well, I'm not an attorney and I don't play one on TV, but let's start with
this: Are the company's promises in writing? If not, it is your word
against theirs. While there are a lot of consumer protections in place
that favor the consumer over the vendor, having the promises in writing
would make it a lot easier to decide what to do next.

By all means, bother. They're alot of fun, easy to work on as a shadetree
mechanic, and are very durable. The price really depends on condition,
sounds a little high for an '87 but it /does/ has low miles. A friend of
mine just bought an '88 325iS with 155k miles for $5,500 and it's a
one-owner cherry.

Did he rotate his tires? If not, I can't imagine any car where I'd expect
to see more than 25K miles.

Supposedly there's something somewhere in the BMW owners manual about not
rotating tires, but they're full of crap.

Should be imperceptible if done by a good paint guy. The results are all in
the technique.

I would think that prepping the whole car for painting (removal of trim,
badges, bumper covers; sanding and cleaning) would eat up a bunch of that
$1050. Paint shop labor in my low cost city runs $40-50/hour, and is much
higher on either coast or in major metro areas. If they're charging less
than that then something has to give.

Did your friend do the prep work on the 'Vette himself? If so that $1050
might just have covered the painting part. Maybe.

Automotive paint itself costs $125/gallon and up.

In my area the cost to repaint the hood would be around $350.

If this process isn't tough enough to go through a car wash, how can it be
tough enough for your daily driver? Imagine yourself on the freeway behind a
gravel truck...

I'd bet that your friend's 63 'Vette is a collector's garage queen that
never sees everyday service.

if i remember the discussion correctly, some people say they notice a slight loss
of torque, but with more power in the higher revs...some people didnt notice any
difference...i guess it all depends on your perception and butt-dyno...i dont
think it will increase torque to any *significant* degree however, but that's just
my asshol...er...opinion...

There are a couple places in the Town Square, although I can't remember the
names. One is a bar with a disk jockey, at least last time I was there, and
the other is a Mexican restaurant. The former is probably the better bet
for a UUC get-together; as I recall it's downstairs to the right as you
enter the Town Square from the main entrance from the street (but I could be
wrong). Somebody else on the list will no doubt remember the name. How
about Monday or Tuesday night, after that evening's
reception is over? Even before that, hopefully you will come to NHIS and
cheer on the racers in the Club race Monday and Tuesday.

Very few can be calibrated for varying emissivity.
Even fewer have specific settings for tropical fish or cats.

Fold down rear seats were an option on all E34 sedans, world wide production
(yes, that includes the US).

They are, however, extremely rare in the US. I've seen 2 in my career.

1995 was an especially weird year for build date vs model year. This was
due to all 96 model year vehicles in the US having to comply to OBDII
emissions standards. BMW kept many 95's alive as long as legally possible,
in order to delay OBDII and it's associated headaches and costs, as much as
possible.
