How does one remove the headrests? I know the posts remain attached to the
car. While I am at it, how does one remove the posts?

if you got this one, the people who knew that it was one of the very early ones
would have a bit of respect for you in that you're crazy enough to buy one what
with the crippling maintenance costs & goofy road manners.

the only nice Countach is a very early one. once they started adding scoops &
flares & such they lost the purity of the original design. when running
properly the early cars were actually faster (better aero, tho likely lots of
lift) than the later ones.

this one looks just like the model I had as a kid.

or you could sell the extra kidney & go for a Miura :

no matter how cool various BMW's have looked in their time, the original
Countach has that certain something.....

People drive Lamborghini's for the same reason deer have antlers. The
ability to spend money extravagantly proves you are capable of providing a
comfortable living. For the deer, growing antlers expends a lot of energy
that might otherwise be spent on muscles. The ability to both have muscles
and grow antlers proves one prowess.

Yes, it's very important to take that sort of thing into consideration. One must
be sure to base their happiness and satisfaction on other people's reactions to
their toys.

No, they actually are anti-gold digger to a degree. If you SEEM to be
trying to impress with money, you are fighting a uphill battle with some
groups. But there are always people somewhere that will be impressed by
money though, it was a damn shame I could not find them with my M3. All of
my dates hated it because it rode rough, was not as nice as an Acura on the
inside and the radio sucked ass according to them, lmao, ahahhaha.

Now if I could afford a Miura S, hell I would even wear a gold chain if I
had. That is an awesome car.

Just saying there's a HUGE difference in used
Countach vs. Diablo prices, Unless M3's got real expensive.
Either way, if I owned one I wouldn't give a shit what god thought....

not sure where your pointing that at.
IMO, the lambo is a hunk of sh*t that only fits in with the show money crowd
anyway. My observations with the hotties shocked me, I expected them to be
ignorant and impressed with the car. They had just been talking about how
cute an Acura was seconds before the lamboshitty pulled up.

My comments about the lambo being crap come from growing up around one. My
father's friend had a early model, then a 86. Both were very very horrible
in the realibilty and craftmanship. Like a bad joke actually. about 80%
of the time, he would be stranded in them somewhere and my dad would come to
his rescue.
haha, just thinking about it makes me happy to think how reliable my M3 has
been for what it can do.

My son's '86 325 just lost all dash lights and instruments except the
speedometer.

He' bringing it home this weekend for me to look at.

Other than fuses, power plugs, and grounds, any suggestions on what to look
for.

Wasn't there a web page dedicated to this somewhere?

Subject: [uuc] <WTB> E30 325

Folks,

A friend of mine is interested in picking up a good, well maintained 325.
He currently has a Z3 1.9l and would like to return to E30dome for a daily
driver/winter car. He formerly had a 325es which suffered timing belt
failure.

So, he's looking for something that is in good shape, maybe requiring a
little work but not much....and no rust! Car should be a 5spd, 2 or 4 door,
eta or i engine (eta is probably more realistic for his budget), and might
as well be stock. This car will see no track time so performance mods are
not considered "worth the additional cost".

Budget is around $2500. I know this probably won't net a decent 325i but
perhaps a decent eta car could be had. Mileage is not a huge concern but
the car should be well maintained with records.

If anyone has a car for sale or knows of a decent example please email me
with details or contact info. He'll probably travel some distance for the
right car (southern would be great!) but not to Cali, probably not west of
the Rockies.

Thanks for the bandwidth.

Back in the old days when I did all the race tire stuff for BFGoodrich, we
used needle type pyrometers. We felt that the temp under the surface was a
better indicator since it cooled less in the distance between the last turn
and the pits. Neil is exactly right when he comments that tire temps are
dominated by the last turn.

Set your car up on a skidpad, measure front to rear tire temps, understeer
coefficient and lateral g's. Explore anti-roll bar settings and tire
pressures. Then you will have a framework for track testing. The fastest
skip pad setup is not necessarily the fastest track setup. A track setup
usually requires more understeer.
