The BMW locks like you describe are only about $30 for a set of four. On the question of replacement keys, I once took the car to the dealer and left the locks on. They needed to remove the wheels for some reason, but didn't need my key. That tells me that either there aren't many key pattern combinations or that keys are available for those locks. Cost is around $65 at the dealer but only $50 at http://www.thepartsbin.com/. The install is a bit of a pain. As a less satisfactory solution, you can just throw a bit of silicone "Goop" on the back part of the light where the clip is and stick the lamp back into the assembly. If your conservative with the amount you use, you'll be able to pop it back out anytime. Chances are the lense on the foglight will crack when you hit a good puddle when the light is hot or catch a rock, and then would be a good time to replace the whole assembly. I didn't even think of that. Hmmm, I'll have to get my good ole continuity tester out and start checking. I'm not sure if the little hesitation is the transfer pump any more because I have no high speed hesitation or starvation, which I understand are also symptoms. The spark plugs look good, but old, so that's what I'm going to replace next. Probably do the cap and rotor at the same time, then maybe the plug wires (they look new, and the water mist test/seperating the wires test made no difference). Just changing the oil to some new Castrol GTX 20w-50 and replacing the air filter made things sound a /lot/ better and even smoothed out the idle. This car is really starting to come together, and is a lot less work than that darn 535i Another question: I had the driver's door apart yesterday to fix the powerr locks (broken wire), and noticed that there was a switch wired to the door handle. The wire was broken, so I fixed it, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Is this a door lock heater? Light turner oner? Thanks, Ryan - - Ryan P.
