At any rate, I don't know if you can program that with the car running. In that mode it works like a timer doesn't it? A tire rotates but the road moves right along with it. Looking at it another way, both the tire and road are stopped at the footprint. So where is the pumping action? OK, the tread approaches the road at an angle, and diverting the water to the side seems like a good idea, but the shortest way through a footprint is straight to the rear, especially for wide tires. As a tire engineer, I designed some very cool directional tread patterns 20 years ago but the marketing department thought no one would buy them. Directional patterns do help a little, but not that much. More benefit comes from asymmetric patterns where the tread blocks are oriented in such a way to take cornering and braking (front) or cornering and power (rear). Also, aligning a tire so the tread splice remains closed from road abrasion is a good thing and the reason pure racing tires are marked with arrows indicating rotation front or rear. Both Stuck and Said are very friendly and approachable, cant say that about the other 20-30 drivers I have met. I was lucky enough to spend a few hours with Said in Greenville at M-day and have spoken to Stuck on several different occasions, he remembered me each time. The porsche folks do alot of big mouthing behind the scenes or atleast at the Petit Lemans they did. So the comments the BMW drivers make are just the normal back and forth stuff, you just happen to only see their side of it. Does anybody know if window and sunroof motors from either e12/e28 5-series OR e23 7 series cars can be retrofitted onto 1980 6 series cars? Part numbers are the same in between the first 2 but indicate a different number when it comes to the 6 series. I'm just wondering if it's a nominal difference that would not impede installation OR if it's a fatal difference, so big that it would prevent the swap.
