The TireRack never mentioned that these were clearance tires or anything to that effect. Just wondering if there might be any adverse effects from these tires sitting on the shelf for 3 years. I believe that such a sticker (it's usually the one which indicates the gross vehicle weight for the vehicle & other info) is mandated by US law, so they're usually pretty easy to find. VIN's are usually assigned in roughly sequential order, but I do not believe that any of the check digits in the VIN directly relate to the production date. I'm sure a call to a dealer could get you the in-service date as well as the production date as well. Tires are pretty tough and sitting around a few years is no big deal. Once I needed to find special tires that were 3 years old for a test. I had a hard time. The Elements lid reminds me of an old woody, or maybe a horse drawn milk wagon, while the black composite fenders against the contrasting body color make the car look like it's still in prerelease disguise. Headroom galore and rear seat leg room to spare - I'm 6'4", and with the drivers seat all the way back I bet there was 10" between my knees and the driver's seat back when I got in the rear. Nice removable rear sun roof/hatch for offroad 4wdr rabbit hunting at speed. The rear seats flatten and fold up against the sidewalls, just right when you find something large at the yard sale. I understand it is built on Honda's CRV platform and is 65% 'Murican....... I liked it more than the mini with it's too conscious retro touches... 110,000 tune-up schedule! We almost have achieved engine-as-black-box. "At the first scheduled tune-up at 150,000 miles R&R engine. Dispose of waste engine properly." Please chime in with your thoughts/experiences on/with the Element or the CRV. Off list I reckon.
