If they tend to be at the lower end of the price scale, what do you think?
I have never owned any (wait, I did buy a set for $100.00 once that are
still in the back of my shop, new in the boxes too, that I still cannot get
rid of with a good conscience), but I will tell you that alot of my
customers have them and can never get them balanced correctly, and I refuse
to try and tell them that their wheels are junk and not worth putting on the
car. You get what you pay for and why put something lesser than stock on
the car?

d00d theze are the most k-rad wheelz you can buy. They are cheep wich
is important because i keep bending my rimz. i juzt take the tires
off by bending them the rest of the way with a crowbar and get'em
mounted on a new wheel. my shop likez them cuz they are EZ to get my
15mm profile tirez on.

The only thing that really got me was that there are two little rubber
feet that seat in pockets to secure the bottom of the radiator. These
rubber feet were not on my replacement radiator and I didn't notice.
When I installed it, the top of the radiator was secure but the lower
part could flop around a fair bit. It took me a while to figure out
what happened, and then it was pretty tricky to get the rubber feet on
the new radiator without completely removing it from the car, but I
managed eventually.

I'm assuming this tidbit wasn't in my Bentley, but it's possible I just
didn't read it thoroughly.

I have heard this argument before and while I can
understand why an enthusiast would have that view,
racing sponsorships or motorsport involvement only
reaches a certain portion of BMW's market. Mercedes
has spent quite a bit of money sponsoring tennis over
the last few years and it must work to some extent.

It is really just another from of advertising to a
certain target market and I am sure BMW did some
research before they did it. Maybe they want to make
inroads into the New Zealand/Aust. market where
sailing is quite a big deal? If that boat wins,
highly unlikely, and brings the Cup back to S.F., they
have that BMW boat sailing around in one of the BMW
capitals of the world for weeks.

It really is no different than putting an ad in the
WSJ (other than dollars).

BTW, Steve, I do think it is fun to watch. My wife is
from a sailing family (her cousin was Paul Cayard's
best man) and I learned to enjoy it. Maybe it is all
the creaking of that carbon fiber?

There have been a number of reported failures of these jacks. Some of the
failures may have been due to improper use, but I do not believe that all
were. I know that some were even tested and failed in a lab environment.
Keep in mind that "improper use" covers things that would never be a problem
with a standard steel jack. The US General aluminum jack, and perhaps
others, must be used very carefully. I am surprised that no one on this
list has seen the failure photos or know more about this.

Additionally, I do not believe that US General is the manufacturer.
Apparently, they are made in China ... I have been told by a retailer that
trying to find out the name of the manufacturer is next to impossible for
the inexpensive aluminum jacks. The Costco jack might be made by the same
company as the US General jack, or it might be a completely different
company -- despite the appearance. At least this is what I have been led to
believe after doing a bit of investigating.

Mercedes and tennis go hand in hand. I am in the MB business and I don't
think that I have a client that does not play tennis. Are there actually
any MB owners (other than myself) that do no play tennis?

On the year differences between E30 325is's.

I know the 87/88 bumpers are different from the later cars.....but that's
about it. Was a limited slip available for all years? How to tell if the
car has one, as I think it was an option....

I figured there are some folks here who could spout this stuff off the top
of their heads.....

Thanks,
Lee

Jon,

I e-mailed the seller, asked the brand of the lenses, was given a name,
seached with Google for the name and found out that they were a
Taiwanese company. I wrote them and they said that the lenses were made
from a mold taken from European lenses, which is why they called them
"Euro".

I have fogotten the name, exactly, but it was short, sorta like "Denso"
or some such.

I use mine (Costco) at several schools and a few oil changes a year.
I have had no problems. My jack was $350 and I don't expect it to
work like a $900 jack. But it works as well the $600 jack from
Griots. And I bet the $200 jack from Harbor Freight works as well as
mine.

Depending on your needs, it's not a bad deal.
It beats the POS small Sears jack I used that lasted 2 or 3 years
which did not lift the car high enough.

i just rebuilt all the brakes on one of my cars a few weeks ago.

good way to minimize the mess and car down time is to call up
www.bimmersouth.com and order some used brake calipers for your car (20-40
bucks), or get some from your nearest junk yard. rebuilt those in your
spare time. now jack up your car, spin the calipers off, and spin the ones
you just rebuilt back on. no mess, almost no car down time. very few
dollars involved.

keep the extra calipers as spares for next time, or sell them to someone
else so they can do the same thing.

i have no interest in bimmerssouth other than as a happy repeat customer.
never gotten a bad part from them and they are nice folks.
