These rubber feet were not on my replacement radiator and I didn't notice. When I installed it, the top of the radiator was secure but the lower part could flop around a fair bit. It took me a while to figure out what happened, and then it was pretty tricky to get the rubber feet on the new radiator without completely removing it from the car, but I managed eventually. I'm assuming this tidbit wasn't in my Bentley, but it's possible I just didn't read it thoroughly. I have heard this argument before and while I can understand why an enthusiast would have that view, racing sponsorships or motorsport involvement only reaches a certain portion of BMW's market. Mercedes has spent quite a bit of money sponsoring tennis over the last few years and it must work to some extent. It is really just another from of advertising to a certain target market and I am sure BMW did some research before they did it. Maybe they want to make inroads into the New Zealand/Aust. market where sailing is quite a big deal? If that boat wins, highly unlikely, and brings the Cup back to S.F., they have that BMW boat sailing around in one of the BMW capitals of the world for weeks. It really is no different than putting an ad in the WSJ (other than dollars). BTW, Steve, I do think it is fun to watch. My wife is from a sailing family (her cousin was Paul Cayard's best man) and I learned to enjoy it. Maybe it is all the creaking of that carbon fiber? Some of the failures may have been due to improper use, but I do not believe that all were. I know that some were even tested and failed in a lab environment. Keep in mind that "improper use" covers things that would never be a problem with a standard steel jack. The US General aluminum jack, and perhaps others, must be used very carefully. I am surprised that no one on this list has seen the failure photos or know more about this. Additionally, I do not believe that US General is the manufacturer. Apparently, they are made in China ... I have been told by a retailer that trying to find out the name of the manufacturer is next to impossible for the inexpensive aluminum jacks. The Costco jack might be made by the same company as the US General jack, or it might be a completely different company -- despite the appearance. At least this is what I have been led to believe after doing a bit of investigating.
