Maybe, but it's built like a battleship and will last several lifetimes. It
falls into that category of things, like other good tools, fine kitchen
knives or cookware, that are deeply satisfying to own and use because
they're made that much better than strictly they have to be.

That said, due to my collection of low profile jacks, I no longer use the UG
Jack Pad that I've owned for several years. For sale for a reasonable offer.

Insanity is in the mind of the beholder.

Snap On, vs Proto

One is 4 times the cost of the other. Guess which one I buy? Does that make
me insane? Doubt it.

For the airbags you don't need to clip the cables. Just remove the
control box and make sure the ground wire isn't grounded. Even with the
box removed if the ground wire is grounded you'll get a warning light.
This applies to great than 93 325is but if you have traction control I
doubt you have less than a 94.

You spend your money they way you like ;-) I frankly think 100 shmoes
for a piece of metal that I might use 20 times a year is insane no
matter how well engineered. Do I like fine knives - sure the Henckels I
use are great but I use them practically every day. I save my pennies
for really fine pieces of engineering like this

Hi Mohamed,

Pin 7 needs to go to ground - however the best web page for this
information is at:

l

Hope this helps.

The question is - will I remember before the light starts blinking madly at
me in the first corner as the rest of the field streams by?

That occurred to me (Sears Point!). I gotta look in the rules and see if
it's legal.

Thanks, Brett. Much appreciated!

And is your oil distribution block ready yet?!

Ah but you're a professional. When it comes to my profession cost is no
object. If I were jacking up a few hundred BMWs a year than sure the UG
version would be in my tool kit. When it comes to things I rarely use,
bang for the buck is my choice. The $70 I save on a jack pad will buy a
few nice Snap-On or Facom wrenches or 1/20 of a new diff ;-)

And I am insane ;-)

Gruppe,

If you have bought one of the cheap aluminum jacks from Costco or Harbor
Freight, you need to check the nuts and bolts on the jack before you use it
again.

I happened to notice one of the handles was a bit loose. In the process of
tightening it up, I decided to check all the other nuts and bolts. They were
all loose, some almost falling out once you looked closely.

Just a heads up for everyone!

When I first saw the subject line I thought someone had sent a Land Rover
post to the BMW list (like I have done in the past)...

Safety Devices is an OEM roll cage supplier to Land Rover and makes the
external roll cages on all the North American Spec. Defenders as well as all
competition roll cages for Land Rover.

Everything I have seen from Safety Devices seems well designed looks good.
I have never seen a car with a Safety Devices roll cage after an accident,
but the Safety Devices roll cages in all the Camel Trophy Land Rovers held
up after brutal rolls.

The driver's seat is creaking a bit under side loads (i.e., spirited
cornering). This is a new noise so I am assuming that something needs
attention.

The seats are power seats.

Any thoughts?

Marco

if you were jacking up hundreds of BMWs all year, you would not be using a
jack pad, a lift would be more in order :-)

Speaking of jacking, does anyone know how to properly jack up a W203 C class
Mercedes? They have the weirdest looking jack points underneath the car and
I am afraid that they will slip off the jackstands.

Lose weight ;-)

Cheap shot, I know, and if I didn't know Kirk personally I wouldn't have
taken it. He definitely doesn't have a weight problem ;-)

I'm trying to convince my better half that a lift should be part of the
budget to remodel the house.

I told her "think of all the money I'll save not buying cheap jack pads"

Someone had a cool mod for reversing the function of the ASC switch.
I forgot how he did it. But basically the ASC was always off by default.
By pressing the button you can turn it on when needed.
