I saw these in a store today. According to the drawing on the box there is now a single metal strip spring molded inside the rubber in place of the old dual loose springs. Couldn't tell if they refills would fit the old holder or not. Last I heard the shop was up and running and he had been mostly fixin friends cars until the 'full mark up' people start rolling in. The next cryptic email I recieve from him I will let you know how the shop is doing. I wholly intend to visit his shop and maybe he and I can BC a LSD install. I'll keep y'all posted :) Cheers Jim Evo Clown ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2003 20:12:58 -0800 (PST) From: david kroth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] <misc> advise on shipping wheels I forgot to mention that it's 'advice', not 'advise'. ===== David Kroth [EMAIL PROTECTED] __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? You can ship wheels FedEx ground without boxes. All you have to do is figure out a way to securly mount an address label. That's it. They do charge you $5 surcharge (each) for not having a box. I believe UPS has the same surcharge. Overall I've found FedEx Ground rates cheaper hand UPS. And the people are friendlier too. > FedEx likely wants you to set up an account with > them, but > that's relatively painless. FedEx takes cash or major credit cards without blinking. ===== David Kroth [EMAIL PROTECTED] __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. He got a head off a US 530i for a replacement. He says the cams have identical (long) part numbers but on the back of one cam there is a "1" stamped and the other has a "2". I think it's up the guy checking in your packages to determine if it's non standard. Of a more important note, at least on the size I had to buy for my Miata, the new so called improved blade impressed me as basically being cheaper for them to make. It had 2 fewer mounting feet per side which would seem to me to not provide as even of a contact pressure of the blade on the window, so don't throw away your old bosch wipers for the new ones until you get to check them out in the size that's going to be going on your car. I tried 3 auto parts stores and the Mazda dealer with no luck looking for the old refills, I finally had to break down an buy the new ones but I'm keeping the old ones should the old refills become more readily available again. I didn't think they were. Ronal are typically the "Ronal Turbo"-designate wheels I've most often seen on E30's. Rondell wheels I've primarily seen at Bekker's for 3/5 series." Ronal is the OEM for AC Schnitzer, Alpina and one or two other specialist makes - the quality is second to none and they are generally light in weight. Rondell makes mostly BMW knock-offs, as well as some of their own designs. Cheap, but heavy, as Alex F attests. I put several wrappings so its nearly completely covered and I've never had a problem. If you know someone that ships heavy stuff regularly they might have one of those plastic strapping deals that use a wire or metal piece that locks or crimps the plastic for a tight hold. Just for clarification then, my last post about Bosch Wipers specifically mentions that they are for the refills (two rubber strips per pack). They are still available through BMW parts departments and World Wide Auto Parts (http://www.nosimport.com) at 800-362-1025. It sounds like they have most of the refills in stock when I called yesterday.
