Each steel line really only fits one place on the car due to the form fitting bends. There are only two rubber lines that I recall, and they go to the compressor. High and low pressure sides can be determined by what they connect to on the car. Compressor mounts should be fairly obvious, as should the condensor and evaporator. The tricky part will be the wiring, but even that should just be a matter of plugging in the parts, unless you have some strange hybrid wiring harness like my 87/88 325i has. Good luck. A/C work is interesting and very satisfying when you get it all working again, and maddening until you do. - -- Joe - -- Joseph M. I did that last time and it worked great--no more antifreeze showers! At the moment, there are two questions that come to mind: 1. the radiator is original, with 70,000 miles on it. Am I pushing my luck not replacing it now? 2. the trunk is tiny (remember, it's a convertible). There's a 6 disc changer in the trunk, mounted vertically against the bulkhead (?) (rear seatback). I'd like to remove it, as I could use the space and don't plan to be hauling CDs around with me. Removal should be easy, but... I can't seem to find the appropriate pin/bolt whatever. I had a somewhat similar experience about a year ago except that a pointy headed liberal 'the government owes me a living' type hit me. We're running short on rednecks in these parts though we do have a useless "Mandatory Liability Insurance" law in this state. I never did collect from her because she lied to the police that her policy (with a similar sounding ins. co.) was current and never ponied up to mine or received a fine from the state. Fortunately my 'uninsured motorist' coverage kept me mostly whole. Alot of that depends on the actuall location of the car. I have personally seen first hand, body shops that would NOT let the owner take parts off the car after it had been towed to the shop. There are too many 'IF's to speculate, but in Brad's case, I would not start stripping the car, selling parts etc. And it is a rule of thumb, they dont mind you putting stock parts back on the car, but they do not like and will make adjustments to the check if you remove items and not replace back to stock. Tunes and Road Trips cannot function without each other. The CD changer is mounted with screws. But that doesn't get you any extra space. And, now that I'm thinking about it, I have never tried to remove the flip down carrier for the changer. It is present in all iC's since 95, even if they never got the changer installed. Try removing the trunk carpet and looking for plastic rivets or screws. - ----------------------------------------------------- BMW Special Tool Rentals Pay per incident tech support - ----------------------------------------------------- Brett Anderson KMS (440) 338 1650 www.koalamotorsport.com OSS committee member ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Apr 2003 23:41:00 -0500 From: "KMS - Brett Anderson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: RE: [uuc] WANTED: BMW Factory Instructions E30 A/C Installation > -----Original Message----- > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Gregory Bradbury > I am looking for a copy of the BMW factory installation > instructions > (EBA or Einbauanleitung in German). > Any language is fine, copies are OK vs. originals. > Can anyone help? The CD set is cheap, go see your dealer. Or, I can fax it to you if you like. International fax rates are not necessarily cheap though, and the instructions are, from memory, about 130 pages. - ----------------------------------------------------- BMW Special Tool Rentals Pay per incident tech support - ----------------------------------------------------- Brett Anderson KMS (440) 338 1650 www.koalamotorsport.com OSS committee member ------------------------------ End of [uucdigest] V3 #6270 *************************** | | In memory of Michel Potheau - friend, enthusiast, founder of the BMW CCA. |________________________________________ | Please visit these UUC-approved BMW parts vendors/service providers: | (listed alphabetically) | | Autoscope-Motorsports - http://www.autoscope-motorsports.com | |==================================================== | | Koala MotorSport .
