Noise on R turns as you load the L bearing. I couldn't hear the bearing when spinning the wheel on my 325, but it sure was bad - eroded area on the inner race. Easy fix on the '89 325 - about $90 for the hub w/ bearings AIR. I'd love to do something like this but every last one I've seen in this area (CT, mostly at Lime Rock) requires an aftermarket rollbar on my cabrio, something there's no WAY I'm going to add on. The lodging formerly known as the Ramada (aka Quality Inn) is apparently full, leaving the Dollar Inn across the street as the remaining choice. the Dollar Inn ain't the Ritz. in fact it ain't the place where the people who clean the toliets for the people who clean the toilets in the Ritz stay, but it's cheap. bring your own extra towels :-P it may be worth calling the QI to see whether they have anything available, but a friend of mine called yesterday & they didn't have any space. I would check with different clubs. The BMWCCA seems to be most conservative about this. I've seen other club's events recently that don't exclude these cars. Some clubs include the Z3/4, Boxter & S2000 with factory roll-over. FWIW, I'd be a little shy of pushing a car real hard that didn't have something over head. A lot of guys will say you're crazy for doing these in sedans w/out rollover protection. NASA allows convertibles / cabrios / targas / whatever that have built in rollover protection in HPDE. They strongly advise an aftermarket rollbar or cage, but will let you run without. Personally, I would not. After seeing a non-convertible mustang that had rolled over, which basically resulted in the entire roof compacting to be on the same level as the hood and trunk (minor injuries to driver and instructor), I'm much more cautious in my cage-less but top-ful car.
