I finally got around to attempting the swap, but I'm not sure it will work. The E24 diff appears longer especially the distance between the input and output flanges. I have not yet tried, but it appears that my E30 diff cover will fit on the E24 diff. However, I don't know if the diff will then fit into my car. Anyone have any insights/help to offer? Also, I was looking for a recent archive and noticed that the archive website does not have any archives between the current week and May 12th. There are a couple of "porn digests" listed in that span. Anyone know what is going on? The car is a 1993 with 125k miles and the electric top (yes, it still works.) How necessary is it to replace these straps, and is there an easy way to tell if they're due for replacement? The straps aren't sagging, but I forget how stretchy they were when new. Thanks, Brandon T. They will not work correctly with the new top. I have replaced my top too and this was the case. The shop that did the work said they always need to be rplaced. I am lacking the owner's manual (on order) but have recharged the key by driving with it in the ignition. Is there some way of re-activating this key - any help is appreciated. Also, this morning, the electric seat and steering wheel failed to move; the mirrors moved but not the seat or steering wheel. Again, no manual, so I don't know where the fuse panel is. Ferrari Club of America - New England Region 1. What are you doing this weekend? 2. Hartford Concorso Ferrari weekend!!!!!!!! ============================================== WHAT ARE YOU DOING THIS WEEKEND? Those of us that attended the Tutto Italiano event at the Museum of Transportation had a great time, despite the downpours. Ferrari of New England provided a covered tent where we gorged ourselves on food from Artz and kept ourselves dry. Kudos to Neal and Susan Heffron and Christian and Anna Scott, chairs of the event, for organizing what turned out to be a great time. Louis Scafuri brought the Enzo Ferrari -- very interesting to see it on the floor of the Museum, particularly if one was perched up in the rafters looking down. Thanks also to the hard-working judges who examined the entries under the tent. If you missed the event, and if you're not one of the tens of thousands descending upon Montreal for the Grand Prix du Canada this weekend, there are TWO car shows that you'll want to consider attending. First, on Saturday, June 14, there is the 1st Annual Best of Exotics Car, 99 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, RI -- less than an hour from Boston and less than a mile from I-95. This show is sponsored by Ocean State Exotic Autos and benefits HASBRO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL. Registration is open to all Porsches, BMWs, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Corvettes, and begins at 8am, awards at 3:30pm, registration fee of $25, includes lunch. The show runs from 9am-4pm with public admission at $5 per adult, children under 12 free. More info, call Anthony DelFarno, 401-463-3383 or [EMAIL PROTECTED] Second, on the very next day, Father's day, there is the Second Annual Italian Car Show at the High Hopes Hot Air Balloon Festival in Milford, New Hampshire (just outside of Nashua), sponsored by the Alfa Owners of New England. "Owners of all makes, models, and years of Italian automobiles are invited to participate. This festival is an annual weekend-long event that features: morning and evening hot air balloon flights, Pony rides, Food concessions, Live entertainment, Raffles, Crafts & novelties, Hay rides, A giant slide, Balloon rides, Helicopter rides, Face painting, Sky divers and more! The High Hopes Foundation is a New Hampshire volunteer organization that provides special wishes for critically ill and terminal children. It will be a display-only show no judging just show up and look pretty. Your entry fee is really a donation toward the High Hopes efforts the fee is $15 per car, but we ask you to consider donating more if its within your means. Itll be a terrific day and its for a terrific cause." For more information about High Hopes Foundation and the Festival, call 800-639-6804 or visit http://www.italiancarshow.org/. For questions about the Car Show, contact AONE's Peter Walker at 978-524-8102 or at [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can register at the site above with your credit card up to Saturday, or show up and register at the gate - but the first 100 registrants will receive dash plaques and perhaps some other goodies. "Plan an outing in New Hampshire in your beautiful macchina for Fathers Day! After all, its your day!" ============================================== HARTFORD CONCORSO FERRARI WEEKEND!!!! Just one week later, on the weekend of June 21-22 is our region's premier Ferrari event, what promises to be the largest gathering of Ferraris in New England, the Hartford Concorso Ferrari! This fabulous show benefits the Connecticut Children's Hospital. Those of you who've attended either or both of the first two, you know how great the food is, the champagne, the comraderie, and most of all, the kids. Those of you who haven't you have no excuse -- come and see everything, from the line-up of modern Ferrari supercars to historic race cars to national concours winners. As part of the weekend, there is also a picnic to benefit the Village for Families and Children, as well as a cocktail party and dinner out. The weekend fun starts on Saturday, June 21, with the Village for Family & Children picnic in Hartford, CT. We'll entertain children and hand out presents, raising money for a great cause. Please call Pete or Rosemary Lombardo at (860) 646-5454 or [EMAIL PROTECTED], or Dave or Fiona Friar at (860) 678-1291 or [EMAIL PROTECTED] Later that evening, there will be a cocktail party for all registrants for the Concorso at the house of Dave "gets all the credit" and Fiona "does all the work" Friar in West Hartford, followed by a nice dinner out. So come on down on Saturday; there are discounted hotel rooms at the Goodwin Hotel available too (see below). On Sunday, we'll have the 3rd Annual Hartford Concorso Ferrari, running 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with registration starting at 9:30 a.m.. http://www.fca-newengland.org/2003concorso.html. Here is my correction to Scott Miller: SORRY! Scott, You know, after I thought about it, I know that you are correct. The customers that brought me the wheels did bring me the hubcentric adapters from Bavarian Autosport. I did not even think about it. I think that the adapters were less than $100.00 and were only the hubcentric rings and not any offset spacing. They maintained the original offset of the E39. Yes, without the rings, vibration would be extreme. Thanks for the correction, you really made me think about this one! Kirk A. More than just "advisable" - it is an absolute necessity. BMW wheels are hubcentric - the hub takes the loading forces, not the lugs. Without the centering rings, the wheel will be off-center no matter what, resulting in vibration. For fitting E39 wheels to previous large-car fitment chassis, TireRack sells these rings for under $4 apiece - part number A670. - - Rob - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mel Abrahams" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [uuc] Re: HUB SIZES FOR E24 E34 AND E31...ARE THEY THE SAME? > > Actually the E39 has a 74.06 mm hub bore vs.72.56 mm hub bore for the E24,34 > and 31. > The E39 wheel will fit but it is advisable to use hubcentric rings. ------------------------------ End of [uucdigest] V3 #6458 *************************** | | In memory of Michel Potheau - friend, enthusiast, founder of the BMW CCA. |________________________________________ | Please visit these UUC-approved BMW parts vendors/service providers: | (listed alphabetically) | | Autoscope-Motorsports - http://www.autoscope-motorsports.com | |==================================================== | | Koala MotorSport .
