If you find out after the inspection and other pre-purchase steps that the
car is the clean, then take his price down at least another $6k because as
others have mentioned you will not get now where near the book (Kelly's,
Edmunds, NADA, etc) value for the car and you shouldn't since it has a
checkered past.

Mount a fuel pressure gauge and find out. Guessing and changing parts leads
to frustration and a flat wallet.

hey all.

I finally got the springs to replace my broken ones. Unfortunatly, I am having the
toughest time getting the torx bolts off. I sprayed them down with anti-seize and
pounded on them foever. I even tried a weaker impact wrench before the hammer came
out. Anyway, I struggled with them all evening and cant bust any of them loose. Does
anyone have a suggestion on how I can get them out? I am going to buy a heavy duty
impact wrench tomorrow and that had better get them off. Are they normally this tight?
On a side note would it be possible to drop the control arm down far enough to get
the springs out without breaking the axel joint, the CV joint? I read on a two sites
that some people had done it but I didnt want to break anything tonight. Has anyone on
the list tried that and if so what results did you get? Did you break the joint?

thanks

any particular reason you're not just going with the euro 3.2l motor from
an E36 w/6 speed ? I'd think adapting the drive-by-wire throttle and
the emissions-related items from the E46 would add significant complication
to the conversion, whereas the E36 to E36 conversion work can apparently
be done in a few days w/o many complications (EWS work-around being
the largest one).

Subject: [uuc] Time to get an e46. 2003 3-series invoice pricing

I sold my 318i yesterday and need to get a new car. I am considering a 2002
330i (manual,sport,prem,cold) or a 2003 325i (manual, sport, prem, cold,
xenon, nav). I would like the 2002 because of the CPO warranty. Does
anyone have any info on extending the manufacturers warranty of a 2003?

Does anyone have the 3-series invoice/msrp PDF that they could send me? Can
anyone recommend a dealer in PA/NJ area?

You know, I don't have much sympathy for the "buyer". He thinks about
running a CarFax on the car AFTER he hands over $10k and buys a plane
ticket to FL? I have had pre-purchase inspections done for as little as
$100, that is way cheaper than his plane ticket. It is almost like he
is trying to do everything wrong - and he succeeded.

Don't remove the axle. I went through this a year ago and did just as
you are doing - tried like hell to get those torx bolts off, eventually
consulted the Digest, and everyone told me not to bother. Just make
sure you put the car in neutral and release the emergency brake to get
the arm to drop low enough. I didn't do this and had a heck of a time
prying the springs in/out of there.

All this stuff is free right on the Internet:

http://www.edmunds.com/

http://www.kbb.com/

Just add about $300 for ad fee and around $250 for doc fee and you pretty
much know the bottom line. Check the Edmunds page for factory to dealer
incentives (which can make the price less than invoice) or customer cash or
financing deals.

If you don't mind travelling to save money, there is a dealer in GA that
sells 3 series (right now) for around $1200 over invoice (including the fees).
