Right down the street. A 460-mile street between NJ (me) and OH (Brett).

It's at KMS right now, give Brett a call - 440-338-1650.

That's exactly what I said to my wife when I picked up the mirror. I
don't think she got the reference.

Larry,

I've found Otto's in West Chester PA to be reputable and up front in their
dealings. They sold me the M Geezemoble at MSRP when half the dealers in the
country were marking them up $10k+ when they first became available in the
US. Their service has been good and they seem to be a very professional
store.

What! you want cheap rates AND good service? In my view you may find someone
with a marginally lower rate than State Farm but will have a tough time
beating the service. Also consider when switching companies you usually
loose any "Good Driver" discounts you have built up with your current
insurer.

Re: [uuc] Used '01 330i - salvage title

I had the unfortunate experience of wrecking an '02 330i (less than 1k
miles) at one point about a year ago. Some lady pulled out in front of
me (and a bus, but the bus was turning thankfully). After $9k of repair
it was NOT totaled and it was anything but a minor collision. Air bag
deployed and the car was not drivable. Actual impact velocity was
somewhere near 25-30mph but I had no where to go with a bus on the right
and head on traffic to the left with a car stopped across my lane! The
'jaws-of-life' removed the driver of the other car (she was not
seriously hurt), but I simply stepped out of the car after removing my
seat belt. A testament to the quality of BMWs.
I'd not want to own that car, fortunately for me it was a dealer loaner
while mine was in for service....wrong place, wrong time, with the right
car I guess. :)

Walk....no, run away. A $38k+ new car is not totaled for $3500 damage!
Or is that why our insurance rates are so high??

Check out Erie Insurance. Apparently one of the only insurance companies
that didn't "poorly" invest your money and lose it after 9-11, thus
necessitating the need to jack up rates, especially after a claim.

Subject: [uuc] Re: Car Buying Horror Story

Hi All,

I guess we all have such horror stories. My ego took a big hit some time
ago when I decided that I absolutely need a M6 (see BMW content). I was
referred to a well know BMW shop in the Orange County area by a gentleman
who also owned a BMW shop in the Southern CA area (great sounding
recommendations) - That there was a beautiful Euro M6 that had been
completely redone. So I chatted on the phone and emailed a huge list of
questions, did the Carfax thing and everything looked great. I flew out
there and took the car out for a spin. It seemed down on power - but I had
been told that the cat was trash and needed to be replaced - I could hear
the bit and pieces rattling around, so I figured that the engine was being
choked. I had the shop (who was selling the car) do a leakdown with me
there - FIRST big mistake - ALWAYS get a PPI done by a uninterested and
well reputed 3rd party. I kept being distracted during this process but the
numbers all sounded great. I got the car home and saw that it was burning
oil - this is a brand new engine. So I figured valve stem seals - got the
head pulled. The head had been reassembled by a rank amateur who mixed and
matched parts, further inspection revealed a badly scored engine block.
Well $10k later - for a complete engine rebuild - it was time to fix the
next set of expensive problems in the car that had had everything
replaced... You can NEVER ask to many questions and unless you are a expert
with LOTS of experience in the particular model, ALWAYS get a Pre-purchase
inspection done by a competent uninterested third party, and NEVER
completely trust someone who you have never done business with before.

I've heard all good things about them. Currently I work in West Chester,
PA. I don't think that they are too far away. It would however, be about 1
hour from home (langhorne, pa). Princeton is pretty close. Could you
recommend a salesperson from Otto's?

I'll second the recommendation for Eurobuyers. I bought my M3 Sedan through
Steve back in Sept '98. No hassles, easy to deal with. he sent me about a
dozen cars that fit, or were close to, the description of what I was
looking for. The car I picked had all the options I wanted (plus heated
seats - BONUS! :-)) and the color I wanted.

With over 128,000 miles on the car, I'd say I'm still happy with my purchase.

The parts store in my burg are handling only the Bosch platinums. They
