In their defense, however, some cars appear to get "salvage" titles from being stolen and then recovered after the insurance company has already paid the claim. Further, the insurance/financing "rules" do not hold true everywhere. I had no trouble getting 100% financing on a then 12-year old 130,000 mile 911 through my credit union and had no trouble whatsoever insuring (including collision) it with USAA. Before buying the car I was told on multiple occasions that a) you can't finance or insure a salvage titled car, b) you can't finance a 10+ year old car, and c) you can't finance a car with more than 100,000 miles. Some of these things appear to be true with some companies, but clearly none are universal rules. Just another angle on this... E.g., in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, insurance companies are barred from writing comprehensive policies on salvaged vehicles, though collision is available. And don't forget, a salvage vehicle might make the perfect base for a track beast.... vty, - --Dennis - -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of M540 Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 5:58 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [uuc] RE: salvage titles After that nasty little E30 M3 story, I'm not surprised to see a bit of salvaged vehicle bashing. You just have to be sure the chassis can be aligned straight or you'll have an easier time turning one direction than another. The car has only seen two and a half Michigan winters and does excellent in the snow. OEM wheels with Blizzak WS-50s for winter use are included with the car. The car is truly in *excellent* condition inside and out....it literally looks and drives like a brand new car and has never been smoked in. Leather shows no visible wear, carpets are clean, and the exterior of the car is in excellent shape. It was pictured along with our other 4 BMWs in the December 2002 issue of BMWCCA's "Roundel" magazine. The only reason we are selling the car is because we have 7 members in our family and simply need a car with more seating capacity. Current mileage is 93,000 miles, most of which are highway, and the car is still extremely tight and fast. You will not be dissapointed with this car. We are asking $21,950 including both sets of wheels and tires. Car is located in Arcadia, Michigan (ZIP 49613).
