Sounds like it could be your crank sensor. When mine went out, I would be running
down the highway
and suddenly the car's revs would jump 1500 rpm for 1/2 second for no reason. The car
is losing
track of the crank and thinking that it's stalling, so it's throwing fuel at the
problem. This can
cause surging, or flooding at idle. When I was at stop lights, I'd stall and not be
able to start
unless I held my throttle on the floor to shut off the fuel injectors.

crank sensor may be dirty, worn out, or have a broken connection. My roommate's E30
lost hers as
well, though hers was due to a broken wire to the sensor. Check your manual to find
its exact
location. generally it will be on the front of the motor towards the passenger side.

The difference in the columns is to reduce noise vibration and
harshness, the column had to be changed when the added weight of an
air-bag equipped wheel was added. The rack changed also. In each case,
the replacements from the parts bin are all of the later (airbag) variety.

Good suggestion, way off on the rate jacking. Claims
have been getting larger, settlements have been
multipling, freak storms are causing billions in
damage and people were screaming for lower rates and
hence no major rate increases until it got desperate
and the 30% increase became the norm.

It's very cute --- like a baby X5. I think a lot of "normal" people will
like it.

Hi Group,

By any chance you guys see the X3 Preview on their
site.
http://www.bmwusa.com/welcome.cfm?page=site_layout/X3preview/index.html

Is it me or does it look a bit off? Well, I could be
off since I think the current 7 series looks ok.

Mike

Liiks more like a Pontiac Vibe to me! While I'm not as put off by recent
BMW "styling" as some are, it does appear that Herr Bangle is following the
herd and using CAD. BMW 's distinctive styling seems to be on the way out
in favor of cookie cutter designs. Hey, the company may be right and we may
all be wrong. Sales are pretty good, huh?

Does anyone have any Michelin MXX3 tires in 245/40/17 (50% tread or better)?

I would be interested in buying one or two of them.

Rich

The E23 calipers are not compatible with the E34.

As posted previously, almost your entire menu of BMW factory-sourced options
is found right here:

http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/brakes.htm

(There's a rare E32 tiny 4-piston setup I left out of the list).

How crazy do you want to go with the brakes? In about a week or two, UUC
will have the 355mm 4-piston front and 328mm 4-piston rear available for the
E34. They fit under 17" wheels and will be very reasonably priced for this
level of braking capability.

Big brakes are not an option on the E34 - they are a _requirement_. I've
had 5-series for quite a few years now, and have experienced virtually every
setup listed on the BMWE34.net website. Frankly, all of the factory parts
(even the Nurburgring calipers) are insufficient, especially if you're
building a big-power car.
