Especially to the dozen who figured out (not like me) that the meter's manual is on the Radio Shack web site. The taking of measurements was a success. However, I'm not telling anyone what they were just yet. A neighbor of the swimming pool was quoted in a newspaper article that 1) he helped write the City's sound ordinance 15 years ago, and 2) that the ordinance is no good because it does not specify sound level limits. Don't you just love this? So I want this Einstein to tell the City what the limits should be BEFORE I tell him what we measured. All you're doing is replacing the trans, drive shaft, and a couple of shifter parts. A quick re-check of the parts cost puts it at $5400. Add about $600 labour and you're at $6K. Still too much to pay *just* for an extra couple of mile to the gallon, but..... there's always the *cool* factor. Now that I'm getting older I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I still appreciate a nice burnout. I was happy to see that I'm not the only that likes good burnouts. When I got the flyer for the Concorso Italiano this year it said: "A new dimension of smoke, noise and action has been added this year! A limited number of performance cars from different marques will trill onlookers with high-reving engines and spinning, smoking tires." http://www.concorso.com/2003/CI2003features.asp I'll be in the BMW Coral at the Concorso Italiano on Friday, at the BMW dinner Friday night and at the track on Sat. Are any other list members going to be in Monterey next month? http://www.festorics.org/ Kevin Kelly BMW CCA 50039 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Jul 2003 22:46:38 -0700 (PDT) From: Brad Couvillon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] Noisy Burnouts (& Dismantled 528e) - --- Kevin Kelly <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I was happy to see that I'm not the only that likes > good burnouts. I'll be dying to give them a proper death (death by melting?). Heck, I may even throw on the 14" steelies that originally came on my 528e after that and burn up the Sears brand tires on those, too! :-) Speaking of my 528e, anyone that wants to see some gruesome pictures, feel free to see what's left of my 528e here: http://www.fatdaddybmw.com/dismantling Brad "Shifty" Couvillon '87 528e <-- finally getting rid of it '85 Euro 535i <-- finally got it registered www.fatdaddybmw.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
