Mustang dynos also give different results than Dynojets, less optimistic. So if your car was dynoed on a Dynojet the difference may acutally be greater. I'd love to give these a good home (I'm asking $450). Any takers? Reply to me privately, please. I can take pictures of them, but it will take a while, since they're in my trailer, which is in Buffalo, and I'm in Rochester. I would think you'd have a REALLY hard time finding a salesperson anywhere who had spent as much time reading about, playing with or driving cars as we do. I would think that you could prolly tell most salesmen more about their cars than they know. Most of those guys are just doing a job. Since I really believe that most people really want to do the minimum, they'll only learn what they absolutely need to know--after all, he'll prolly be selling something different in 6mo. Anyway, their product knwoledge is most likely better than the average car shopper. > > On the other hand, I would rather peel my toe nails back than > deal with a > car salesman. I > really wonder who was the first idiot to get talked into a > car that easily > so the dealerships learned to be high pressure, close now type places? Again, great minds think alike. Even worse than most salespeople are the salesmanagers/LIEnance managers. These guys seem to be the same guy everywhere. Same sleazy guy with the slicked back hair, starched white shirt, power tie & huge bling-bling ring that you see on the Simpsons. These guys are solely in the bu'iness of ripping people off. Before my b'day came up, I was considering trading my Saab for a truck (didn't do it--too many theives). Same tactics everywhere. High pressure. Guy writes on for "Customer agrees to buy if XXX" & asks you to sign. The bamboozling what are you looking for your monthly payments to be crap. This stuff about I can't give you this for your trade because I can't sell it (when in fact he can't wait to get it). I looked at 2 trucks on the recommendations of my good'ol boy buddies for towing my M3. The Tundra & GMC/Chevy. But were pretty much the same tactic-wise. The guy did let me drive the Toyota around for about 45 min. On the freeway, on rough roads, in traffic, etc. The guy at the Chevy dealer (who after he "axed" me my name wrote "Robinixson"???) let me drive one block up, make a U-turn & back. When I asked if I could go farther he "axed" why. I explained that I've always driven sports cars & wanted to know if I could live with the driving & handling compromises his truck would offer. The following exchange when just like: S: "Man you don't need to be drivin' it any farther, you know why?" Me: "No, why?" S: "Cause man, this here, this sh!t is the Cadillac of trucks. This thing rides batter than any Saab man." Me: "Doesn't Cadillac make a truck now?" S: "Man you ain't hearin' me. This is the Cadillac of trucks. You don't want that....man you can't do anything with that....that ain't really a truck (I guess that means the Yukon & Avalanche aren't really trucks). Man this is your truck, you don't need to be drivin' any farther to know that...." Descends on into a discussion of what would bring in more "females", etc..... Then this idiot tries to sell me a Ford truck that i don't want & haven't seen (higher mileage--on the lot for 6 months, & oh yea, it's June 30). I told him I wanted a Chevy truck. He starts filling out paperwork like I'm going to buy something. I ask him for stuff on the truck I drove. He insults me with the offer on my car (similar car on another one of their lots for more than double the price). Finally, he gets it. "So you want me to pay you retail, & you want to pay me wholesale." I say, "that's generally the idea, we can start there". Parting shot, "man, why don't you just leave?" It may take longer, but I'm just going to sell the car myself & buy a truck through private sale. > beginning. It is not fun to be insulted, waste 3 hrs to be > told "well we > understand if you cant afford the sticker price" etc etc. I > have not bought > a car from a dealer since 97, so I figured they must have > improved in this > PC type of mood we have been in for the last few years. You would be wrong. I think it's funny that they get mad when you throw out a low ball offer, but when they do it it's ok. One guy got mad when I laughed at his trade in. Most of those guys are so crappy that it's almost fun to just provoke them. > > Mike Lee ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jul 2003 08:26:17 -0700 (PDT) From: Neil Deshpande <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: dealer surveys - was RE: [uuc] X5 won us over in the end Jason: Good for her! I'd like to have seen this exchange! I'd just have assumed that guy was lying up front and not even brought up the tank later. Neil Deshpande - usually walks around obstacles *** Jason Knight <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Speaking of being treated poorly then asked for a good report card, when we bought our last truck, the salesman said, "Fill out the survey with all high marks, bring it back, and I'll buy you a tank of gas (diesel)." So, my wife is at the dealership getting parts a month later, gives the guy the survey, and says let's go get that tank of gas. Here's the quick back and forth: "Oh, the dealership doesn't do that anymore." "I thought you were buying it." "No, the dealership, and they stopped that." "I don't care, you said you'd give me a tank of gas." "So you want me to pay out of my own pocket." "Yes." "I don't have any cash." "They take credit cards." "I don't have my wallet, it's inside." "I'll wait while you get it." "Are you serious?" "Yes." He goes inside, comes back, and says: "I can't go right now, I'm busy. Didn't you get a really good deal on that truck anyway?" "Yes, we got a great deal, but you promised me a tank of gas for the form, and I want you to buy it." "I'm busy right now." My wife was not pleased, and had schemes for payback. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jul 2003 17:28:29 +0200 (CEST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Vic=20Maslanka?= <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] New Shell Gasoline "Shell Oil Products US and Motiva Enterprises LLC today introduced new gasolines that are specially formulated to improve fuel economy by reducing friction in the engine."
