Hi Clarence, here is my opinion.

If I were building a track-only car and if any race sanctioning body
permitted it for my class, I'd buy the Ground Control mounts. Otherwise,
even for a street car that is tracked occasionally, I'd buy the E46
M3/convertible mounts.

I'm sure others will disagree with me.

Having added a qt or so and using the dip stick to verify oil level is
at least half way up between the two marks on the dip stick - I figure
that it is a false indicator light.

Can someone tell me where the sensor is and if I ground the lead going
to it, does the light come on or go out ?

Thanks

It is more complicated than that. The sensor has both a static and
dynamic sending unit, both housed in the same unit, going into the side
bulge of the oil pan from the top side. Electrical connector is under
the airbox just above the opening for the traditional distributor with
its blank off plate.

I've had one bothering me for a while and it turned out to be the unit
in the head liner rather than the $135 sending unit (of which I now have
two).

Scott

The E46 M3 mounts are not what they are cracked up to be. I had one set
fail in 8 months
in my E30 M3.

Personally, unless you go to the solid monoball mounts, the
poly-urethane mounts
are perfectly fine for the street.

Well, I've had a few suggestions on my non-working air conditioning on the
'89 325i. Failed relay is one, and another person wrote me privately to say
that his air conditioning, now converted to R134, is working very well - at
a conversion cost of about $1600. I'm wondering, at that kind of cost, if I
can't convince Sally to buy lots of frozen foods and to kinda pile them up
around herself while driving. I dunno, she sure didn't look too happy when
she came home Friday afternoon. Here's a happy retro thought - I've seen
these on old bugs, and if we mounted two we could sport a menacing JATO look
while staying, or at least looking, cool. . .

Those only work in dry heat, aka swamp cooler. There are also ice chests
that used to fit on the front transmission tunnel and plugged into the cigar
lighter to run a fan.
