Yes, I got total of $2000 rebate for the same car. It was the best $140 (4 years of membership)investment I made for car related or even none car-related. I didn't know about the same VIN rule. OK. I guess your pre-turn-in inspection was done before then so BMW knew what they were getting and fixed the price? Someone else told me that they checked the price after they turned it in and it was lower then. My only concern is that I have low miles on the car (a lot less than allowed by the lease) so they may not discount the car as much. Sort of a penalty for not driving all the miles the lease allows :-) >I was going to broadcast I did get my $1500 rebate on leasing the car on the >UUC list, but I figured someone from BMW or BMW CCA might take a note of that >make sure it won't happen again so I left if off. I don't recall reading it anywhere. Is this new? From the request form: http://www.bmwcca.org/PDFs/Form-MembershipRewardCheckRequest.pdf "For certified pre-owned vehicles, rebates will be paid once per vehicle per customer." I assumed that meant getting it twice for the same VIN was a no-no. >Maybe the policy has changed or the early lease termination is different, but >if you want to CPO your car, you'll probably have to take it to the dealer and >run the process that way. I just got the buyout figure for grins - to see how it compared the residual. I was surprised by the amount - it seems too low (as if they discounted the car a good bit). I am planning on turning it in - not ending the lease early - then buying it back CPO. The early buy out was just to see what the what they would say. >Good luck with your transaction. Thanks! I bought it from him and I love it - it helped me pass several people at the starts and re-starts at the last two club races I did, and also get information from my "crew" about situations on the track. This is a no-brainer - the total setup is about 1/5th to 1/8th the cost of the next option!! Contact Blake Nancarrow with BlakeRadios at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and tell him I sent you. This will make it easier for us to find each other on the track, not to mention pass along some advice (as well as trash talkin', if needed). We tried using headsets with FRS handhelds, but it was pretty hard to hear (headsets and mics slid into helmets), and range was not great. So, looking for any advice as to systems to consider, as well as good sources for the equipment. Racing Electronics seems to be the dominant player in this game. But we don't need full racing systems. Maybe a headset or ear set plugged into a "real" handset? Any help would be appreciated. Mark I have bent 1 17x8 ssr gt1 on my e36 M3. And that was driving 65mph on the highway when I encountered a crater on 95 south 5 miles for the George Washington bridge in NYC. SSRs are strong but no matter what you buy all wheels will give eventually. It's just a matter of how fast and how big the pothole. I'd suggest to slow it down a bit on roads in poor conditions. If you must keep the speed up for whatever the reason you may be better off with a smaller wheel like a 16 inch. The tire profile will be higher and more rubber will absorb more of the bump saving your wheels. I can tell you that I drove a maxima SE for 3 years on the same roads I drive the M3 and with the 16 inch 225/50/16 tires I never bent a rim. YMMV. Stefano P.S. Send the list plain text emails (vs the HTML format) so that they can be easily read. I converted your original message below. I have bent my 17 inch aftermarket wheels. OK so I was naiive about this and bought a set of "lower tier" wheels, and this can happen. So, I switched to a set of 17 inch OEM BMW Contour wheels from a 97 M3. They are better but keep bending too. Can anyone comment on a FINAL solution they have proven workable?. Expecially interested to hear from someone WHO WAS SUCCESSFUL at eliminating bent wheels. Tire rack says SSR's are strong, but they also say it is completely my risk to find out if they are wrong. Anything that can help would be GREATLY appreciated. Will consider stock, oem, aftermarket, going back down to 16" wheels, WHATEVER. Thanks, Mark Miller bent e36 wheel collector '92 is (stiff), 97 is (even stiffer). ************************************ Stefano ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Aug 2003 19:40:37 -0500 From: "Karl Zemlin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [uuc] Leaky beads I put the old TRX wheels and tires back on my e28 to sell it. 3 of the tires leak at the inner bead - 1 of them is pretty bad - I need to fill the tire every day to drive it. How long have the tahrs been on the wheels? Last time I popped tahrs loose from wheels that they had been mounted on for a loooong time (10+? years) it actually tore the bead of the tire rendering it pretty useless as a tahr. If it is a bead leak it is likely caused by minor corrosion and you will need to polish the seating area of the rim a bit not just swab it with tire slime. Fix-A-Flat?
