If you see a description, and no part number, then you need to click on the "line item" number to expand that section. As to the trunk, first make sure it's not in valet mode. If key is horizontal when removed, it's in valet mode and won't unlock with central locking. Otherwise, yes, you have a lock and an unlock signal, you can check with a DVOM at the connector. Can't tell you which wires off hand, but you won't harm anything if you're using a decent, high impedance, DVOM. I am leaning toward used E30 M3 springs and Bilstein Sport shocks. Any advice before I start my search on where to look or problems to watch out for on installation? Very straight forward, nice upgrade. But I'm also in the middle of swaping dark gray carpet and black leather seats into my car as well. So all the carpet is out, center console. Well I sat on the parking brake light switch on the back of the handle. So I unscrewed the one screw hold the switch to the handle. And 'fixed', read bent, the switch. When I went to reinstall the switch it doesn't sit tight any longer. So I'm looking for any help on how to fix the switch to the handle, without JB weld. Symptoms: Suddenly no speed indication on speedometer. Also no odometer movement, MPG indication or cruise control. All other dash indicators functional (tach, temp, gas guage). Actions to date: Visually inspected diff and speed sensor, no obvious problems. followed wiring as far as I could, but it disappears up and over the rear sub frame in a hurry. Questions: 1 - Does anyone know the output characteristics of the speed sensor? I would like to put an o-scope on the outputs while the rear wheels are driven to rule the speed sensor in or out. 2 - anything else that I should be checking? According to Bentley, you have the primary and secondary mixed up. The part I have is the secondary, and is the difficult one to replace. I'll have it swapped for the primary and save myself a bunch of work. Thanks. The one pushing up on the chains from the center of the block is primary and requires removing VANOS to access. You should test it both at the sensor, and at the cluster, to be sure. Hello, My '89 535i decided to act up on me the other night. She would not start on the first try and then decided to die twice on the way home. As I was cruising down the highway she died, then in a few seconds came back to life like nothing happened. The car runs fine otherwise. I have had a fuel pump sitting in the garage for a few months now, waiting for the buzzing one to die, I assumed this was my problem. I changed the pump and then a day later, same thing, would not start right away and then died once after a few minutes of running. She ran fine the rest of the day. I have heard this can be two things; the main relay, or the crank position sensor. Has anybody experienced this problem before that can shed some light on the subject? Can/how do I test either one to rule it out as the cause? TIA for any help. I think I am driving on borrowed time right now. A couple of simple questions: 1. Is it uncommon to wear out the pads in only 32k miles? I know it varies, but I usually get nearly 50k miles, at least, on stock pads on non-track vehicles. 2. Does anyone know the minimum thickness of the stock rotors? I know it's stamped on the rotor, but do I have to remove the caliper to find it? 3. Any recommendations as to a replacement pad? Again, this is not for the track, just for street use. 4. Similarly, if I need to replace the rotor, any suggestions for a source/manufacturer? 5. Lastly, I don't suppose that the warranty covers worn-out rotors for only 32k miles, eh? :-) Thanks in advance, - --Dennis ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Aug 2003 11:10:30 -0400 From: "Gary Derian" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] 2000 E39 528i wagon brakes 30K on pads and new rotors every second set is what I see.
