This is coming off my race car, purchased in 2002 as new old stock.
And the total playing time is probably less than 10 hrs.
Comes with Blaupunkt factory wiring harness.

Removable **black** face plate, with adjustable amber/orange lighting.

None of the fancy graphics, etc. Just plain digits and clock on the
display.

This is the closest CD head unit that I could find to match the BMW
interior on my E30 M3.

And the best part is that you can connect it directly to the factory
speaker wires
even when you have the amp in still.

Best offer over 75.00 takes it.

Alright, I got the check engine fault display to work
- - sort of. (My major malfunction in previous attempts
was waiting too long to begin the 5 pedal depressions.
I always thought you were supposed to wait until the
other lights went out. Oh well.)

So, as the check engine flashes, this is what it does:

Short flash
Pause
Long flash
Pause
Short flash
Pause
Long flash
Pause
etc., etc.

It keeps doing this repeatedly, seemingly without end
(ok, I watched it 6 times before I lost patience and
tried again - and it did the same thing). Anyone seen
this? What does it mean?

Thanks,

Neil

Neil,

You can get the fault codes via the gas peddle and check engine light on the
OBD1s.

One more thing: I had the key in Position 2 when I did
this, i.e., where the key would be if the car were
running - not in Position 1, where the electronics
come on. Is that right or wrong? Other respondents
have mentioned Position 1 as the correct one.

Thanks,

Neil

sweet. I looked at the 2002 winners list and figured it was just a
typo, and they meant 2003. I got a good feeling this year. I slipped
'em $25 and I think that'll make things happen for me.
After I take delivery, I'll buy some nice accessories from UUC
motorwerks. :)

This question comes up every year. IIRC Winners aren't posted until they
have all been notified. Sometimes takes a week or so.....

The car is a 99 E36 328is with 67K miles. The last two mornings I found a
small puddle of antifreeze (blue BMW fluid) under the right front of the
car, about under the right side of the radiator. The overflow tank is 2-3"
low. Do I likely have a cracked radiator neck, perhaps just a loose hose,
or a leak somewhere else? Thanks in advance!

Subject: [uuc] Re: E30 ECU swapping, final question

I checked again to verify the second ECU part number.

To summarize:

ECU 1 is a 173 from an '89 ix 5spd
ECU 2 is a 351 fron an '89 ix auto, now 5spd

I have a lead on a Jim C. chip for a 173 ECU, but the 351 ECU is what is
currently in the car. If the 173 ECU can be swapped into my '89 ix
5spd, I'm good to go.

Brian's link does not list the 351 as a replacement for the 173, but I
just don't see how that can be. Are there wiring harness differences?
What else could it be? I would just swap them for a test but I'm
concerned about harness difference that might cause damage. Can anyone
enlighten me on the dos and don'ts of ECU swapping?

Thanks,

- --Jeff

They don't post the names on-line until the winners have been notified.
Since they haven't called me yet, I can only assume that they haven't had
time to notify any of the winners yet.

But, unless you are on vacation or didn't give your correct phone number
then is it safe to say: "If they have not called you, you did not win" ?

Also, I know some folks at the O'fest, hopefully they would call me if
I won :-)

I still have my fingers crossed, however....

Gruppe,

This link was posted to an E28 forum I lurk on. I'm
posting it here in case someone missed it:

http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=137540

Someone then asked for proof to show that this is not
a hoax. From the Orange County Register:

******* CHP identifies car-crash victim **********

The man who died over the weekend in what officials
said might have been a speed contest on Santiago
Canyon Road was identified Monday as James O. Wimani,
19, of Fountain Valley.

Wimani was a passenger in a 2003 BMW M3 driven by
David Huie, 20, of Huntington Beach, CHP officials
said. The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Saturday
as Huie drove westbound in excess of 80 mph nearing
the Foothill (241) Toll Road, the CHP said. The car
left the road, hit a utility pole, overturned and
caught fire.

Huie and a second passenger escaped the vehicle;
Wimani was trapped inside. Huie suffered major
injuries, and passenger Jordan Foster, 19, had
moderate injuries.
