Since about 140,000 miles( I now have 173,000 on car), I occasionally set a code as read by a Peake R5/FCX-II scanner. The fault code is from Table 11, EA: "Catalyst efficiency below threshold, Cyl #4-6". Sometimes the fault code is read, even though the Check Engine light is not set; other times, the Check Engine light does set. When cleared, the code does not immediately re-appear; in fact, I can go several thousand miles without a fault. Other than the "obvious" cat problem (if the code is to be interpreted literally), does anyone know of other interpretations of this code? The car is driven almost exclusively on freeways - usually a "bit" above the speed limit. One time the code set occurred when I accelerated at wide open throttle for a period of time. thanks, Bill ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Dec 2007 22:20:45 -0600 From: "Dave Swingle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "BMWUUC Digest" <[email protected]> Cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: 1996 328i, OBD II fault Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> When did you last change the 02 sensors? It's either one of those or the associated cat.... No, it's a bulb. Change the bulb in the effected light. Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Picked up a set of E34 electric sport seats from a local craigslist ad. Pretty decent shape; need some leather conditioning and a little love here and there but they'll be a nice addition to the 535 when they are cleaned up. They do have one problem that I suspect is somewhat common and was hoping that this groupe might have some insight on how to approach. The extendable lower bolster on one of the two seats is broken. The problem is the plastic track guide the connects the bolster to the sliding rail is busted. The guide itself looks like a delrin type plastic part - white in color - that is riveted to the bottom of the bolster. Does not seem to be an orderable part within the E34 catalog. Any ideas if there is a substitute part from another model, a means to order this one, or even a someone who's making a replacement part? Heck, maybe there's someone out there with set of trashed sport seats who's alreadly canibalized them for parts and would like to sell me this. Need one for sure but two would be best. Suggestions? Ideas? Jeff ------------------------------ End of [bmwuucdigest] digest(5 messages) **********
