I've had some odd issues with my CEL blinking on and then turning itself off
lately. This past week, it would come on and stay for a while, and my idle
was rough. Then yesterday, when I went to start it, I had a really rough
idle and CEL stayed solid.

This morning I checked under the hood, and I didn't see any obvious intake
leaks, tightened up my intake boots and it ran a bit better but still rough.
I checked the CEL code: 1215 MAF.

I checked the voltage on the connector (not the sensor) and it had voltage.
I happened to have a spare MAF around, so I swapped that out. I started the
car and it ran better (not great), but CEL still on. Drove it around a bit,
and idle is fine, but CEL is still on.

I tried the hold the pedal down for 10 seconds after pulling the codes, but
that doesn't seem to do anything. When I pull the codes, it just seems to
repeat them over and over and over again. So I hold the pedal down for 10
seconds turn the ignition off, and check again, still showing 1215.

Do I still have a MAF issue, or am I just not clearing the codes right? Any
clue?

Car is a 94 540i with about 170,000 miles on it. It definitely could use
some work, but in general the engine has been running like a top.

Thanks in advance for the help, and happy holidays!

Doug
