Bill, if you strike out on a decent set of used shocks, try the Billstein
Tourings. They make for a nicer ride than the HDs. I put them in the 318is
that our daughter drives. The ride is quite pleasant and the handling is not
at all bad. They should also cost less than HDs. The E46 convertible/M3 rear
shock mounts are a more duarble upgrade without gettng fancy aftermarket mounts.

For the seats, try Kevin Chinn at Creative Options. He makes fitted seat
covers for the sport seats.

Barry,
I'm assuming it's an E36 that we're talking about. Most likely it's that
magnet with sits on the motor shaft of the window drive. The segmented
magnet is used to sense when the window has stopped moving (or an object
may be blocking it) and in conjunction with the switch in the door jamb
raises the window when the door closes.
If you futz with that door jamb switch see if pushing on it hard raises the
window to close that gap. If so, it might be that switch. If not, you need
to remove the door skin and move that magnetic ring toward the rear of the
door (and glue it if necessry) to align with the hall sensor.
If you have to remove that door switch be careful as the backing plate may
fall into the pillar in which case you have to fish it out. (coupe's for
sure). I guess by leaving it floating there's some degree of adjustment
possible. To realign the switch notice the ever so slight embossments on
the black latch. Align these with the depressions in the body side.
