The more i think about this the more it scares the heck out of me.
This kind of thing ought to be banned outright.
EVEN if his intentions are "above board" a simple coding mistake could
cause horrendous "code red"/"nimda  type problems. What kind of rep would
boinc have if anansi caused a mess like that eh? That is the kind of 
thing that
prompts new laws and restrictions on the internet.
What if the data gathered is being combed for military or banking 
sights, or the
power grid? A crawler is bound to find them all sooner or later, sooner 
when you have
300,000 bot-nets working for you. and the returned data may look 
innocent but a simple bit set or
word misspelled on purpose could sever as a flag, and no one would be 
the wiser.
I see no point whatsoever to what the Anansi project is doing - it 
serves no
useful purpose  in the way that projects like say Seti or uFluid or 
PrimeGrid do.
This is just a disaster waiting to happen -  I urge the boinc team -  
stay away from it.
Boinc has a certain amount of responsibility to ensure it isnt enabling 
disruptive or illegal internet
operations.
