There's no way that Boinc projects can be kept completely safe. Boinc is open-source and anyone can start a project. That's how it was designed and that's how it is. It's why the Boinc website has a list of projects almost guaranteed to be safe.
It's almost a good thing that the Boinc documentation for starting up new projects isn't always perfect for every circumstance. But sooner or later somebody could start a foolish or even malicious Boinc project. It worries me when people attach to projects whose goal is unexplained and which don't even have a forum. I don't like it when I receive emails from people who say they like to be one of the first to crunch for a new project. But some people are natural risk-takers. _______________________________________________ boinc_dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_dev To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address.
