The difference is that while the Hubble does not change after the
measurements are done, we're running a lot of clients on virtual
machines so their observed performance can and will change shortly
after the benchmark have finished.
Currently we're using virtualization because that makes the
infrastructure management so much easier. But as virtualization gains
momentum on regular desktops, running BOINC inside a VM may become even
more attractive, since it provides much better security than the current
sandboxing code.
