Hi All,
Just a quick query on Boinc compatibility with .Net Framework 4.
Just had to re-install Windows 7 x64 and before installing Boinc 6.12.8 ran all
the MS updates - including the .Net Framework 3.5 (SP's and security patches)
and the .Net Framework 4 Client Profile (and security patch).
Then installed Boinc, the installer ran through fine with no error's, but when
trying to launch Boinc got an error saying that Boinc needed a reboot before it
could launch. Rebooted the machine, still got the same error on launching Boinc.
Checked the install directory for Boinc (C:\Program Files\Boinc) and indeed
there was a 'RebootRequired' file there, deleted this file tried to launch
Boinc - same error message
Un-installed Boinc - rebooted and re-installed - still getting the same error.
Un-installed .Net Framework 4 rebooted and re-installed Boinc - Boinc now runs
fine - re-installed .Net Framework 4 and Boinc will still luanch correctly.
Issue is that as most people will run the updates as i did before installing
any other applications this will prove to be a show stopper for Boinc as it
get's itself stuck in loop asking for a reboot that will never prove to be
helpfull whilst the .Net 4 Framework is still installed.
Ghost
